Train Tickets

I read a few months ago that there is a way to drastically reduce the price of train tickets.
Does anybody know of an app or website that can explain how this works?

Train split app is ok sometimes, has saved me £20 on journeys.
There’s a couple of other ticket splitting apps as well.
Ticket splitting is the way for cheaper tickets, thats multiple tickets for the same journey, so
Wolves to Aberystwyth you’d buy to Shrewsbury, then Shrewsbury to Machynlleth, Machynlleth to Aber but just sit on the train and hand the guard the right ticket when they come round.
