Like every game, it’s how we play not who we play.
I'm not so sure...
It seems to me like we always up our game against the big 6 teams.
We have had some exceptional performances against them over the last 3 seasons, but we struggle against the likes of Burnley, Huddersfield, Brighton etc.
I'm sure Nuno plans meticulously for each teams style, but it just feels like the players only really turn it on when we play the big teams

Thanks, I think you've got something there.
I also tend to agree with YW about certain players making a difference though, whether because of their attributes/inherent style or how they play a certain role. RAN or Marcal at wing back or Traore and any other wide forward for example.

Those aren't value judgements on those players btw, for me it's up to Nuno to consider all these elements when putting a team out.

There are quite a few new bodies he'll still be discovering things about, as well as finding out how players he knows well perform when asked to do something different
Well yes certain players will make some difference. I personally wouldn’t have RAN in any team in any system at the moment. He offered nothing in an attacking sense against Burnley and isn’t as good a defender as Marcal.

Again, did he offer nothing because we get no men ahead of the ball and play too deep or because his personal deficiencies? Probably more the former and a bit of the latter.

I meant personnel...

I'll be staggered and quite disappointed if we don't go for a 'back to basics' 523 or 532.

I'd be inclined to go with the latter, and play:

Rui
Semedo, Boly/Hoever, coady, Kilman, RAN
Neves, Owen
Vitinha
Neto, Silva

Not a good start. Sky have just shown Nuno locked out of the ground.

From elsewhere -

I’ve been told the line up is:

Patricio

Semedo
Coady
Saiss
Marcal

Moutinho
Neves

Traore
Podence
Neto

Silva

Might give this a miss I think.

Asking for trouble against a Spurs team that are so good on the counter,

In isolation an interesting team, but what troubles me slightly is that it's more tinkering of personnel, another back line, another formation change...

Wonder whether we'd have been better swapping this team sheet with the Burnley one?

Let's see how it goes anyway!

Looks like Spurs might be playing wing backs (doc and Reguilon) with three centre backs?

Well at least he's giving it a go to start with. Better their team has to deal with us than us dealing with them. Interesting Doherty is in the starting line up too.

Well we are clearly going to give it a go - brave & not sure that it will work

According to Saiss they have to 'beat off' Tottenham, could be a plan :)

Reactions: b3h
Brave line up, hopefully take the game to them....maybe Son and Kane will have stinkers.
Think this is the system Nuno might want to go forward with... Whatever happens, hope he sticks with it for a while
