Tottenham (H) 27/12 Build up

it wasn't me but when I have some time this week I'll try and do some analysis on it (rather than trying to disprove).

As TT says it would be easy to debunk over a longer period, but whether the issues are them two together this season I am less sure. It certainly wasn't the problem against Burnley IMO.
So that'd be similar to me doing a study on the my suitability of 32" waist trousers , I shan't use any data after I was 30 though , So by that logic I can have some 32" waist Levi 501's for my birthday in Feb then ?

I'm not convinced by throwing Otasowie into a game like this, against Ndombele, his appearances have had encouraging signs but also signs he isn't quite ready IMO. Obviously would love him to start and have a stormer today :D
Neves was horrendous at Burnley and Otasowie will stop us getting overrun in the absence of Donck.

Not been impressed with Saiss this season and I'd like to see Marcal there who by all accounts excelled there for Lyon.

Aurier is shit so I'd risk RAN for what he gives us offensively.

Agreed re; Neves & Moutinho.

I’m still waiting for whoever it was who said they’d put a thread together to disapprove this theory. But based on what my own eyes have seen, I’d much prefer Neves + A.N. Other (Donk if he’s fit? Or Owen).
I think it was DW, but I can't honestly remember.

Not that I'm particularly tied to the view but it would be interesting to see the stats. I could believe that they both don't look like they play well but actually we perform better as a team

Time is a factor though, isn't it? Just because Neves and Moutinho may have worked once it doesn't mean they're the best option now and forever, for various reasons

I think you could make a case for most people's teams tbh, I can't say with absolute confidence mine is the way to get the best out of this squad.

We all have our own focuses. I want to see more from Otasowie in the middle, I want a balance of experienced and young players, a decent run for Fabio and I want to try and unlock Semedo and Traore on that right side.

You could make equal cases for Pod behind Silva and Neto, persevering with RAN on the left, getting Kilman back into the defence, or giving Vitinha some starts.

We have more choice than we ever have in the PL, but few of them are dead certs at the moment. To me that's a mixture of established players underperforming/being inconsistent and young players being fairly unknown quantities.

I'd say bar Patricio, Coady and Neto (and probably Semedo for most of us if you're being optimistic) we wouldn't agree on best formation or XI, which is quite a change from a team that used to pick itself pretty much

Patricio
Semedo
Boly
Coady
Kilman
Marcal
Neves
Otasawie
Neto
Podence
Silva

that’s our best side for me, with Traore in for pod when he’s fully fit. I’d have Ait Nouri in for Marcal when Donk is fit/back in form and can replace otasawie, but with both Ait Nouri and otasawie in we’d be way too inexperienced for my liking.

I wouldn’t have Kilman anywhere near a side containing Kane and Son.

He’s not ready yet.

Bit harsh. He's 23, the only way he's ever gonna be ready is if he plays.

I like Kilman. He hasn't let us down and, prior to Burnley (where he played on the wrong side) I think it's only v Liverpool where he's been on the losing side this season.

If Kane and Son are on form then any of our defenders need to be at their best

Not sure it’s harsh, more about protecting the player.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Kilmans done ok. Certainly no worse than any of the others.

Is Max Kilman gonna be in the side if we have proper top six aspirations (as Fosun claim) though?

I doubt it.

You can probably say that about a lot of our team. I know what you're saying, but I'm not sure protecting the player from tough opponents is going to give us any help in answering that question. Sometimes those challenges are the making of a player

I certainly think Max has done as well as any of our other young players this season (bar Neto), and I could see Saiss, Coady or Boly struggling just as bad with Spurs attack if they have an off day

Fair enough.

Kilman, RAN, Silva and Owen O look ok. No howlers, not out of place but just ok.

I’m not sure any of them are Premier League players (yet).

I guess it depends what you want.

We’re currently a mid-table side, deserve to be, and will probably continue to be if we pick the players that we’ve been playing recently.

Needs checking, but this season i believe it is:

When Neves and Mouthino start together its :-

Played 6 Won 0 Drawn 1 Lost 5

When Neves and Mouthino DON'T start together :-

Played 8 Won 6 Drawn 1 Lost 1

He might be. He needs games for us to be able to see.

Has Kilman had a bad game on the left hand side of a 3? I can't think of one

Ok, but have the fans got the patience to wait and see?

And, more importantly, have Fosun?

If there are few senior players tearing up trees (especially at the back) then patience probably isn't as much of an issue. While we're playing Boly on the right then it's really just Saiss he's up against (or Marcal I guess), and Romain has been OK but hasn't nailed down the shirt any more than Max IMO.

As i was saying earlier, we don't have loads of no-brainer starters at the moment across the whole team
