The Video Games Thread II - The Resurrection

Really enjoying AC Valhalla, but if you're going to play it then be warned.

The opening section in Norway goes on way too long, and is not very interesting.

Once you get to England it is brilliant. Doubt if I'll finish this much before Christmas.

I must have sunk more hours into this than any other elder scrolls game. though with such a major tendency to crash it was a killer to play. I imagine that’s been solved though. I could prob provide some major tips if anyone was inclined to play it.

Read online that Nintendo are repairing any and all joy cons sent into them, regardless of age. Registered mine for drift last week - they sent me a UPS delivery slip straight away, have fixed them already and are sending them back today - despite them being 5 years old. Can't fault that really for service.

Hell Let Loose: Jesus fucking Christ, the most unforgivingly difficult game I think I've ever tried! It is good, as long as you are willing to accept the fact that you will die repeatedly and have absolutely no clue how or where the bullets that killed you came from! The atmosphere of the game, the concept is very good, the gameplay is brutally tough.

Sat down with my Genesis and played Contra: Hard Corps (Probotector in PAL regions) for the first time in ages. Impossibly difficult, but man, what a spectacle. Totally unhinged.

The original Bioshock was the first game I ever did 100%. Absolutely brilliant game. Probably sits second in my fave list behind Skyrim. Although Far Cry 4 and Red Dead 2 get honourable mentions

One of my favourite games of all time. In fact, 3 of my favourite games of all time as all of the Bioshock series are fantastic.
Given its backed by Netflix it will be terrible. They've probably found some awful plot somewhere and decided to chuck Bioshock over the top of it to make it sell (such as the recent Resident Evil series).

Would love a Bioshock 4, as long as it was back in Rapture instead of Columbia!

I've got the remastered Halo games on PC and the first one was 2001. They still hold up. Not sure I'd want to go back much earlier than that for anything than obvious retro stuff like very basic Spectrum games.

I've got GTA Vice City and the controls are genuinely atrocious, such a shame.

I know it's out tomorrow, I know it's on Game Pass so won't cost me any extra but DW is right - it won't have aged well.

FPS games in general really do show their age, Halo is a very rare exception.

I'll be starting Borderlands: The Pre-sequel later for my FPS itch.

I saw the news yesterday and downloaded Project64 emulator and the game just for a trip down memory lane. Trying to map the N64 pad onto an Xbox pad is painful and it's very difficult to play the game as the way you look around, move, strafe, and target shots is very counter-intuitive these days.

I bought the masterchief collection for the Xbox which allows you to switch between old and remastered. It's funny how the old graphics are far worse than you remember.

I wonder what kick off 2 might be like to play today

I read that as Masterchef for a moment and had images of Greg Wallace in blocky old video game graphics, and it bought me out in a cold sweat.
