The Velotard Thread.

fair enough!
I missed the aldi cycle sale, was it worthwhile?
I was an interested observer of all the cyclists in london. Johnny would have absolute fits, as around 80% plus of cyclists ignored traffic lights.

It was ok. Pretty limited to be honest. There's still plenty of stuff available.

In London they have to. Stay still or try and observe the rulesof the road and they are taken out. Seen so many near misses when driving through Central London, you have to balls of steel to cycle there

Yeah, cycling in London looks horrific.

Although the video taken by a cyclist this week of fellow cyclists almost crashing into people on a zebra crossing hasn't helped the cycling cause. One pedestrian was so incensed he stood in front of one of these cuntpuddles and called him out for what he was.

The fucking idiot on the bike still tried to ride through the crossing when the bloke had finished with him. Total cock.

Don't know if anyone's aware,or even if it affects anyone, but leisure lakes bikes in Wolverhampton are relocating to a bigger shop on the Astle business park in West Bromwich,so that'll just leave Fred's and halfords as bike shops in Wolverhampton, and the fortnightly co operative doing repairs on a Saturday in bradmore park, merridale, and then the next closest bike shops I think are sedgeley and darlaston
I really need to get organised and get my bike maintenance qualifications sorted, could be a good time to be a mobile bike mechanic in wolves

Ah, didn't know that. Was due to take mine for a service soon too :/

Having checked,it's actually shut and reopens on 25th may in West Bromwich.

We're lucky in having a company on site at work who do services. Need to take my bike to them asap.

They're useless. I never use the ones that are dotted up and down the Bham New Road. In fact, there is some brand painted pavement cycling infrastructure just before you get the Hagley Road Junction. I'll try and grab photo of it - it's ridiculous!

I do like this little beauty on Lawn Lane near Bilbrook

Yeah, right, I'll just wobble right on the edge of the pavement then shall I? :spaz:

Given the arrow, is it not directing cyclists onto the footpath, rather than that thin bit?

Oh, so the thin strip is for pedestrians??! Even better :icon_lol:

Did the Dartmoor Classic yesterday. 65 miles and nearly 6,500ft of climbing. Some seriously testing gradients (25% in places), absolutely stunning views and some of the most hair raising descents I've ever experienced. Do or die stuff.

Fair play Machin, that's a hell of a lot of climbing!!

Cheers mate - it was like nothing else I've done before. Brutal stuff!

How you feeling after the France expedition?

Just about back up to feeling myself. Even though we stopped a lot 350 miles is a long way for me and I felt absolutely gassed on Thursday afternoon when they threw in another lump!

I will post some photos in the thread over the week.

Where I work, there are idiots walking around everywhere staring at their phone screens. Twice I've seen people walk into roads whilst on their phones, without looking. Thus, this case is potentially worrying.

Oh, and for machin, based on recent comments, there's a "daft cycle lanes" series also linked on the page.

It's a difficult one really. At a speed of less than 15mph in the time it takes to react to blow his air horn and try to swerve he could have just stopped (stopping from 15mph is almost instant providing you have working brakes!), which is what you would do if you were in a car. This doesn't absolve the pedestrian, however.

Why didn't he get himself legal representation? What a tit.
