I guess an extra £20m or whatever can mean he can give £5m to family and still have plenty left. Footballers are also very good at wasting money.
Indeed. I imagine that it's probably quite easy to live a ridiculous lifestyle at that pay grade which can quickly catch up with them when the money stops coming in. It seems flippant to want more than 90k or whatever he's on now but I guess it protects that lifestyle a good way into a very long retirement if someone offers 200k+, especially when you're getting towards the end of your career.

Forest after James McClean. Oh, Martin.

Cardiff have signed Emiliano Sala for (an undisclosed) club record fee.

Ashley Cole has signed for Derby County

Ashley Cole's attitude (as a footballer) has always been spot on, he's just ancient and was last any good about six years ago.

Bolasie has cancelled his loan at Villa, another brilliant bit of business by Brucie Bruce. It's cost Villa about £1.2m to have him for four months and help them to mid-table in the Championship.

Barça have signed Kevin Prince Boateng. Random.

Cardiff splashing the money on Sala:

I remember rumours about him coming to us, but probably agent talk

There is "genuine concern" Premier League footballer Emiliano Sala was on a flight missing off Alderney.

The Piper Malibu with two people on board disappeared from radar near the Casquets lighthouse at about 20:30 GMT on Monday, Guernsey Police said.

The plane was travelling from Nantes in France to Cardiff.

That’s appalling news if true, puts just about everything into perspective.

Just been reported on local news here in Jersey.

Not that it matters in the context of the tragedy, but do you reckon they get the transfer fee back from insurance? Or is it the value of his contract?

They could donate the agreed salary to his family.

I doubt it. I'm pretty charitable but I wouldn't be signing off on c£6m going out just because I feel sorry for one family.

As far as I know both clubs and players have to have insurance. His family should be well looked after in this regard.
