The Things You Are HAPPY About Thread.

Losing my mind trying to place these. That flag looks like Romania (or Chad if I was really reaching) but I know enough to know 1) Romania doesn't translate to "Pagaminta" in Romanian, and 2) none of these appear to be cooked in rum, which literally every Romanian treat I've ever had was in one way or another.

I went to Queen Mary's Grammar. Some good, some bad. Wouldn't change it though as our local comp where my brother went (Sneyd) was fucking shit, to the point it's closed now.

ION managed to work both days this week and going to the office tomorrow. You can't break granite, throw whatever the fuck you like at me, it'll bounce off.

Yeah think it depends on the school and the child. One of the biggest mistakes of my life was going to grammar school, hated it, really affected my self confidence. My brother went to the same school and did well.
I'm a grammar school kid as well. With hindsight, and being a teacher now, it was the worst place for me. I'd probably have thrived if I'd stayed with my mates at a comp, and got just as good results. I know for sure that having the name of my school on my CV opened the door to my first career, but I'm not sure that makes up for all of the other issues it's created / exacerbated.

I asked my girls, when they were 9 or 10, if they'd like to do the 11-plus. Both said no, and it was never mentioned again. They've both been really happy at the secondary school that I should have gone to.

That’s the grammar school my son has just got in to for September.

The feeling of absolutely crushing an interview.

Had to prepare a 10 minute presentation and deliver that, and then 50 or so minutes of competency/situational stuff thereafter. Probably the most in depth interview I have done since looking for graduate job years and years ago.

Will wait and see whether I get offered the post now, hopefully I do but thankfully have a few options open to me after returning from down under, but moreover just enjoying the satisfaction of preparing well for something, and then it paying off in the situation.
...and verbally offered the job today after going over to meet for a second interview/informal chat over coffee.

Just need to negotiate terms/agree salary etc. but I'm absolutely made up.

I'd like to take this moment to thank Anthropic & Claude AI for helping me to write what was an absolutely barnstorming presentation :ROFLMAO:

Being able to pass time reading VileTalk again now that there going through a sticky patch. Plenty calling for Emery’s head.

Inside a week, he's been completely outdone by Rob Edwards and the football manager equivalent of Jake Humphrey.

If you look at their team for the last couple of games, it’s no better than it was 3/4 years ago. Only their left back options are an actual upgrade from when Targett was in the side. The rest are either the same or no bettter. Without Tielemans and Kamara they are bang average.

I don't believe anything printed in a serif typeface.
Great answer!
I loathe any serif fonts.

Useless info coming.... Apparently, its been proven that serif fonts ease the flow of your eye or movement over the line of text better than sans serifs.
That's why nearly all adult books use Garamond or Times.

I believe, or, have heard from UX (User Experience) folks, that serif typefaces are more readable in print, whereas sans serif is easier to read in pixels.

Have seen nothing scientific to support either claim, tbf.

If they are good UX people, it'll be based on some level of evidence!

They were! The "I want to be like Gary when I grow up" sort. Miss working with them tbh.

Thats like saying that without Neves and Moutinho we were bang average though isn't it really?

Plus McGinn, who is a twat, but he's an inspirational leader for the fans and players.

McGinn is a better player than he gets credit for, IMV. He's an absolute shitheel but that's what he does best, and he does it very, very well.

...wait. What thread is this?

I agree with both sentences. There’s plenty calling time in Emery’s tenure which for me is enjoyable. They’re in the champions league places and a good chance in the Europa league yet they’re moaning like hell.

Happy that my jury service is over. I was dreading it tbh but found it to be fascinating, interesting and learnt a lot about the jury system and how it all works. Also the 11 other jurors were lovely people, and we all got on well and worked well together.

Guilty on all counts relating to a child/minor. My job is done.
