The Things You Are HAPPY About Thread.

Kerrang is now Planet Rock, which means I have something to listen to in the car that doesn't make me want to crash in every lamp post I drive past - ie not Steve Wright or Kate Lawler.

So it turns out Planet Rock ain't that great. It annoys me that these rock stations always ignore the best period of time for rock music - the mid to late 90s. Instead it's modern day and 80s.
There were sooooo many brilliant rock albums out in the 90s it seems crazy that dedicated rock stations seemingly ignore them. I guess if it wasn't mainstream at the time, then it doesn't get a look in, ever. Shame.

Yeah, but then all J9 has to do is fake a telephone call and the music stops - Worked for you on the way up to Scotland after all.

To be fair, that wasn't Slayer. It was the awesomeness that is Davidian by Machine Head.

I think Kenny thought the front of the car had transported to Broadmoor when you and I both shouted "Let Freedom Ring With The Shotgun Blast!"

Fucking great track. And adds weight to what I was saying in my previous post.

Rock music died in about 1990. I blame the Black Album.

I know, but I just took the piss a bit with my last! To be fair Burn My Eyes is one of the greatest albums of the era you miss

But to return to it, Robb Flynn's finest work is actually on the first Vio-Lence album. Calling in the Coroner is genius.

Thinking about it now

Burn My Eyes for definite
Slave to the Grind is 90s I think - Skid Row at their best
Vulgar Display of Power - Pantera
Clandestine - Entombed

There is some good shit there

Rock music will live as long as Rush are going strong, and as they are approaching thirty years with no thoughts of splitting, then long may they continue.

I was thinking along the lines of the less heavy rock albums:
Deftones first two albums
Metallica - Load
Corrosion of Conformity - Wiseblood
Down - Nola
Incubus - S.C.I.E.N.C.E.
Sepultura - Roots
Machine Head - Burn My Eyes
Nirvana - Nevermind
Silverchair first two albums
Rage Against The Machine first two albums
Pantera - everything!
(Hed)pe
Limp Bizkit - Three Dollar Bill Y'all
The Offspring - Smash
Millencolin first two albums
Presidents of the USA

Oh and the Chilis released their best stuff in the 90s.

Apparently it's to do with the advertising contracts. They have to play the mainstream rubbish during the day for that reason (according to Kerrang! anyway).

Personally, I'd be more inclined to blame either Nevermind (change of direction seeing as people were apparently fed up of hair metal at that point) or Appetite for Destruction (need I say more?).

A really good Father's day.

The 2 boys took me out for lunch & a few beers (one of the few times my hand has not needed to go near my wallet) + a bonus present of 'Running with Wolves' by Peter Lansley.

It's great being a father when they are old enough to have an intelligent discussion with them, but they sort their own problems out (though still ask for advice on occasions due to my lifetime experiences)

:eek:ldboy:

Not a big fan of Load as a Metallica album - although King Nothing is excellent
ANYTHING by Corrosion of Confirmity is good shit
I know people love Roots, and yes it is great, but you have to understand I was into Sepultura from Morbid Visions. That, Beneath, and Arise were better than Roots for me.

But they're playing stuff that was mainstream in the 80s, not stuff that's mainstream now, like Kerrang did. Just seems bizarre that there isn't a radio station out there playing an entire decade of top quality rock.

Absolute radio isn't too bad, if you can stand the 'no repeat guarentee' if you're really into the 90's try have absolute 90's on digital. Not sure it'll fit you're rock requirements, although I was an indie kid myself in the 90's and I think it's ok the few times I've listended.

I agree with you about Keerang, I thought it had a good mix on there during the day. I did stop listening to it a while back though, as the morning, evening shows (ie the only time o could listen to it) where pretty pap

FIRST CLASS HONOURS!

I never expected this. Get in!
