The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

They bought us for the kudos of owning a football club with a business model via Mendes which they thought was a cheat code to breaking into the CL places with the support of the Chinese Government. A combination of losing that Government support and realising the barrier to entry was higher than they envisaged has brought about the just stay up policy.

Ironically 3 clubs making better decisions in Forest, Villa and Newcastle have shown it was achievable.

See I lean more to Kenny's thinking. I don't think they are keen to sell us. I think anyone looking to shift a Prem club would get it sold pretty easily in the grand scheme of things if they really needed to.

We aren't some toxic asset no body would want. Given the way they have used the brand elsewhere I feel it's pretty clear they still see value in the ownership.

I was told directly by someone very well connected to Fosun Sports that we are definitely up for sale and have been for a while.

Yeah, but there's being very well connected and being very well connected. Companies like Fosun aren't making it common knowledge they are willing to sell any time soon as it simply devalues their position. Further, they wouldn't keep investing millions into players if they didn't think they could make money from them one way or another.

They have made it clear they are looking for investment partners but I rather doubt they are wanting to sell at this point in time. They have everything to lose and very little to gain by doing so.

The ground complicates it. It's effectively worth £0 no matter how much work you do on it (and we need work doing on it at some point)

They aren't investing in players and haven't for a long time, the club uses money that the club generates by dint of being in the Premier League.

Honestly this guy couldn’t have been better connected when it comes to football finance.

Sure they are. They are still prepared to fork out or commit to forking out millions to secure players. That's how we got Cunha. Of course they want us to be self sustaining but given we do lose several millions each year, they are still prepared to underwrite that. Naturally, they have been painted as the bad guys because of how they handled themselves over the last two seasons and some of the big errors they made. That hasn't made them popular with the fan base whatsoever and they seem to get criticised each and every time something goes wrong or is seen in a bad light.

Frankly, they have been in football almost 10 years now and their knowledge of how the game works can only have improved. Yes, they have made errors, they have shot themselves in the foot, they have overpaid on poor footballers but equally, they have given us more than any previous owners in modern times in terms of product on the pitch.

I'm just hopeful that lessons have been learned from the last few years and since the Nuno era and that we are in for better times. I don't see the point of biting the hand that feeds you every time there is a screw up particularly when they have shown themselves adept at correcting most of the mistakes.

Please, I don't mean this to be condescending to you or the guy you are talking of. It maybe he is perfectly correct. I don't know.

However, was in the Boardroom at Wolves or Fosun? If not, IMO, it's a lot of hot air and conjecture as well as likely personal opinion. I know as football supporters we all like to think we have an inside track on some dealings at whatever club we follow but reality is that those at the top of the chain will only feed snippets to those gullible to suck them in.

Fuck them, they treat the likes of me with fairly open contempt so they can get criticised when they make major strategic and PR errors all the time.

Forelock tugging isn't a Wulfrunian thing.
Yes, I get that and get the huge mistakes they made to disenfranchise an awful lot of fans like you. Don't you think it taints your view sometimes?

It’s not hot air. But you’re not going to be convinced so carry on.

You know fireside chats are an essential part of the investment cycle. They take place and become common knowledge in the sector for deals much bigger than Wolves. If you work or have friends in PE you’ll know this.

Anyway, it’s an investment company, what else do you think they are doing? Just having a nice time?

Those commitments aren't Fosun commitments they are club ones. They aren't underwriting anything
