The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

I think we might regret this type of sentiments when he has gone - its going to be very difficult to replace his goals / contributions to goals.

Also - we will need a new scapegoat for being lazy and disinterested.
This year I think he has been largely good and clearly made a lot of valuable contributions, goals and more importantly assists. He does overplay sometimes and would be better off trying not to be quite as flashy. But we'll definitely miss him, there's no way Hugo Bueno is the same quality IMO.

I don't think we know about H Bueno, could be very good. I'm a big fan of R Gomes but it was stark the drop off in end product for him v RAN against (I think) Spurs.

Fair about Hugo. He could have made a big jump with a year out on loan. Rodrigo is obviously a couple of years behind RAN and Bueno in development, but I think he could be the best of them, I think he's shown flashes of massive potential.

I think RAN is going to be a huge loss. He's a quality player, can overplay at times but, he's the kind of player fans want to watch because he's got such great skill.
I think i'm right that next year he'll be going into the last year of his contract? And there seems to be no noise at all about him signing a new one......... so from that, i can only assume he will be going.

I still think we're going into next year with R Gomes, H. Bueno, Lima & Doc as our wingback options

We have an option, so 2 year's really

Oh ok, that takes the urgency out of selling him a bit i guess. Maybe before he signs, he's waiting to see whether we replace a competent coach with a complete fuckwit again, which seems to be the 18 month cycle we've been on for most of his time with us!

It's inevitable that players will move on. We're just a modern day Southampton who had a superb squad a few years ago and then Liverpool came in and dissected them. Make no mistake, Fosun are in this to make money and the best way to do this is through player trading. And, in fairness to them, as most people aren't, then they have been prepared to finance the biggest transfers in our history time and time again.

Sure there have been some acquisitions that haven't worked out but that's entirely normal in football. Over the last 8/9 years we have recruited some terrific players and made good money on them. Unfortunately, it has to be this way for a club of our size to be self sustainable. We might not like it but it just makes sense as there is no way we can compete adequately with teams raking in three, four or five times what we are capable of.

Recruitment is key and the move to look to Brazil has definitely been a good one. Kudos to Fosun for making that happen. Sadly, until something changes in football so more teams can compete for silverware, that's how it will remain. Enjoy the ride.

How many players have Fosun made money on, i.e players signed by Fosun and sold by Fosun? So nobody say MGW or Doc!

Neves
Jota
Nunes
Collins

Who else is there?? I'm guessing that there could be some dross that never played for the first time? But I wouldn't class them as terrific players!

Rafa. Not a terrific player, but meaningful money and a guide for where we might end up with Fabio (in reverse).

Have Fosun made any money out of Wolves?

No one makes enough money from football to justify the amount of work and effort needed to run a club and fans expectations of how any revenue is used.

Fosun can't just be in it to make money as there are so many easier ways to invest money for gains. The American owners we have coming into the UK view the ticket pricing increases and broadcast deals as the way. Looking to make little gains on transfers isn't a good strategy. Even if you look at Neto as a success overall. You need to factor in the cost of coaching, wages and all the other development that went into it to see it's probably such slim marginals it can't have any real financial merit. Especially once you then look at how quickly that is wiped out by the likes of Silva, Cutrone, the eventual loss on Guedes and Johnstone.
