The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

FabRom following in with that story which is basically a confirmation that the talks have taken place.

I don't particularly care where he goes as long as we get the money and spend it well but it's not the move I'd make if I were in his position.

Our 2 best players of recent times going to Chelsea & Utd is pretty sickening. Also shows that they are both pretty stupid too.

If they're not in Europe though...

It'll be entirely dependent on that unless they sell a raft of their young stars to fund it. Chelsea fans have grumbled about that kind of strategy but done very little to actually protest it. If Ineos try it at United they'll find out very quickly how hard it is to succeed with a full on fan revolt.

I genuinely wish him the best of luck but I don't back Matheus (or many other players for that matter) to succeed under that kind of pressure. I don't wish him any I'll will at all but it seems like a cursed move right from the start.

I'm not sure I could palate a Wolves player in a Man Utd shirt. I'd much rather he go to Forest or even Villa! If he went to Man Utd I'd have to feel ill will towards him because I want that club to lose every game they play.

If we ignore Dan Nardiello/Kris Taylor who never actually played for us (scandal that United were allowed to rob them and pay a pittance, regardless of the fact that they never went on to do anything, but such is the world)...I think Jim McCalliog is the last player we directly sold to them. 51 years ago.

The club has pretty much been in a constant state of flux since he (Cunha) signed so in some respect I can't blame him for wanting to go elsewhere... although his choice of club seems to be in its own state of perpetual chaos!

I really like him and he is a fantastic player that is a joy to watch... but there is too much drama at times.

The hope is that under Vitor the club might have a period of stability and progression? There is of course plenty of potential for it to unravel quite quickly but for the here and now I'm happy to enjoy the ride again as it has been a while!

Thing is whilst the club openly sell themselves on getting you into the PL and then you'll get your big move, then we are going to continue to sell one of our best players each Summer. Sort of a failure in recruitment if we don't. Different players will react to that once they know they have that opportunity, Neves at one extreme, Nunes at the other with Cunha somewhere in between.

Regardless of when he leaves and who he plays for, it’s not on from all surrounding him to have this filling column inches now, rather than in a few weeks time. It’s one of the lead stories on the bbc sport website today too.

As a business model of attracting talent and being willing to sell them on, it ticks the boxes. I wish I was confident of the money being used wisely in the summer but Shi will no doubt want a game of roulette again.

Edit: Tony beat me to it.

Selling a player each Summer is probably a reality that is going to hit a number of teams but this Summer we are losing Cunha and probably Semedo already, if they listen to offers for the likes of Gomes or Andre in addition to this, I am going to be extremely pissed off. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens either but it would be a massive shame as with the spine of CB's and CM's we have plus a double digit goal scoring 9 - I am actually more optimistic about next season than I have been in a number of seasons.

Don't disagree with any of the above (@TT & Sniffer)

I don't necessarily have an issue with a "star" player moving on after a few seasons, it's how they're replaced that I've had an issue with... but we all share that opinion on recruitment.

Vitor is a strong personality, not a patsy like Lage and GoN, so it'll go one of two ways.

Vitor having an impressive start, and Nuno's eye-catching success in NG2 should surely focus Jeff's mind on striving for stability and renewed success...?

I think Cunha is history clearly, and I can most definitely live with that. The club are at least trying with Semedo, and I'd be very surprised if either of the other Brazilians go too, I just think that's catastrophising based on Jeff's cuntishness.

Agree we have a promising spine to build on, and I feel the optimism too!

Keen and Judah speak like RAN is as good as gone. They normally put out whatever message the club want.
