The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Be interesting how he'd fit in there, they've only been playing with one striker haven't they and that's Ekitike who seems to be having a good season.

I wonder what kind of fee we are going to be looking at

They had Marmoush up to Christmas of course, so sort of a front two(ish)

If we get £10m then we've done very very well, I'm expecting another loan before he disappears for free though

Surely a reasonable season in La Liga means you can get £10m with a sell on

His contract situation probably plays in as he's only got a year on it hasn't he? So I think 10m would represent good business, all in with any loan fees and wage contributions it would soften the whole ordeal slightly for sure.

His playing career is going to end up looking like Vitor's manager career

Willian Joke got 10+ La Liga goals FIVE times (Fabio isn't there yet). He is fucking shit.

Ante Budimir has 15+ goals for like a third season in a row and anyone who saw him for Croatia in the Euros could tell you he's awful.

There's a litany of players in recent years like Unal (now at Bournemouth) who've got twenty goals and are mostly shit. Ayoze Perez and Alexander Sorlorth both have double figures this season for instance as well.

This La Liga is shit isn’t it. Bet they’d love to have England’s record of producing international tournament winning players, European competition winning clubs and renowned top class managers.

Fuck me Alan will have a field day here! Doucoure’s actually a good ball player!
Admittedly haven't watched much of Everton under Moyes, but I thought he was actually quite poor under Dyche.

The comparison to Munetsi I don't feel is terribly accurate but also didn't jump out at me as horrifically problematic. A rare moment for me, I know.

Now, if it had been specifically that they're both "pacey and powerful"... ;)

They have been playing in the same position, that's the comparison. Obviously!

The colour of their skin being a talking point is outrageous.

Year, with a years option.

Shit, no, different yes. Jose, Silva, Mir all have had relative degrees of success in it whilst looking miles off it over here. He was hopeless at Rangers, that doesn't make tbe SPL superior to La Liga obviously, but is a better barometer of the likelihood of him coming back here and being any better than he has been previously, in the same way Mir being awful in the Championship for Forest was. McBurnie has 2in2 I wouldn't want him either.

£10m plus a sell on would be decent enough business. To be fair to Hobbs, he usually gets a good fee.

Frankfurt are pretty good at identifying and developing strikers, so would be an interesting one

I was thinking that. I suppose looking from the outside in he's got a decent amount of experience for his age in some big clubs/leagues and as he's been shite enough to not be involved in the national team he's got a lot of U21 game time as well. They might see his return this season in a very poor team and think that he might be about to kick on and fulfill some of his supposed generational potential.

Fair to say I have serious doubts.

His contract situation makes it a fairly low key gamble though, especially if they get huge money for Ekitike this summer.

All fair enough of course.

Granted I’m biased, but also have a slightly different perspective. Mir is a good case as you flag up. The reality though is a bit more nuanced. I saw him score with my own eyes right in front of me for Sevilla against Madrid. When we all fell about laughing and explained why to the fans around us the general response was they couldn’t believe it too as they all thought he was garbage. That’s why he gets punted around and spends all his time on the bench, and when I saw him play on Friday night it was again off the bench to little fanfare for a team escaping the relegation zone. His relative success was at Huesca, the equivalent of whoever did well up top for Luton when they came up. Those fans groaning around me in the Mestalla were the same ones laughing that they’d sold us Guedes and probably think the reverse about him ‘doing well’ for Wolves. Just as Atleti fans were happy to see us taking a fair few players they didn’t rate, one of whom seems to be doing well now he’s ’found his level’…

Hobbs or Mendes?

Hobbs or Mendes?
Fair point. I imagine it was Hobbs who got £25m for Collins, £40m for Kilman whereas the Neves, Nunes, Gibbs-White deals were probably more Mendes.

It'll be Mendes again so he and his dad can earn another drink out of it

He really needs a permanent move away from England. If he's going to have any success or find any form it's not going to be here.

Some kind of medium sized Europa League club seems like the best fit so he can play regularly. Hopefully we add a nice sell-on fee and he does well and gets a big move.
