The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

Vítor says “the club & Nelson need to meet halfway on the bridge”. Not a chance Nels drops his wages to stay here & not a chance the club matches what he’s currently on, so he’ll go. Vítor probably knows this but I think it’s more than fair to say he wants his captain & fellow countryman to stay.

Would the club's big enough to afford to pay more than Wolves be interested in Semedo, I suppose he might be useful on a free to them.

We’d probably just need to match the wages of someone like Benfica.

No reason we wouldn’t be able to do that on a couple of years deal if we’re serious about wanting to keep him.

All depends how much Semedo wants to stay here and how much he'll drop his wages.

We've lost Lemina off the wage bill, we'll be losing Dawson, Sarabia and Forbs as a minimum too in the next few weeks - use the money you're saving there (the latter three don't really need replacing directly)

And Cunha's wages when that happens.

I wonder if that will drag or be done immediately.

Depending on how Lima is developing and how we see Rodrigo in future I’d be inclined to give semedo same wage 2 year deal.

He’s rarely injured, seems a good pro and he’s easily a mid table full back/wing back IMV. If he goes, it’s on a free, so not missing out on a fee. Yes, maybe it’s too high a wage but when there’s no transfer fee involved etc, I mean what would he be market value if we were to buy him?

If the plan is next two year Lima will take over, then who are you going to get that’s better that is essentially a stop gap for the next year/2 whilst we bring Lima through?

Depending Ofcourse on whether Rodrigo is seen as our RWB going forward and if he’s ready - but if that was a potential route we were hoping for id like to see him starting games as we are now ‘safe’

His smile alone is worth whatever we're paying him.

I'll be sad if he goes. Immaculate professional and an incredible defender, if not as sexy going forward as his pedigree might have suggested.

It’s also very rare for a team in our situation, or any who are mid/low mid table to have a full/wing back great offensively and defensively.

No issues with him personally

Probably aren't many years we could look back on and say "wow we had more quality at x position than Manchester United". I think we can honestly say that's been the case at RB since Nelson arrived (accepting that United have been relative crap).

For me, one of best gk of spain its:
Joan Garcia 1,99 Espanyol 23 years clausula: 30 millons

Many big clubs find he, like Arsenal, and others.

We won’t be paying 30m for another keeper unless it’s Turkish lira.

With Semedo. The cost of buying a new RB of similar quality and paying anyone decent, is surely bigger than paying Semedo what he currently earns?

Is it too simplistic to just pay him a lower wage but a massive signing bonus or something?
