The Summer 2024 Transfer Thread.

Anyone unhappy with Adams as depth and being able to play centrally or wide perhaps needs to consider how well Fraser, Chiwome and Chirewa did. Mind you if he’s our only forward signing and considered a starter come August “unhappy” won’t get close to how ill feel.
Straw man army out in force.

I don't want Adams but I do want a new striker to be a starter and then use Hwang as a back up.

We should be improving not downgrading.

I’d like both Adams and Hwang as back up 😁

Probably not worth getting too bent out of shape over the linked names. I think most/all of our signings have generally come out of the blue for a little while now.

We're definitely signing Che Adams though ;)

Don’t they need him for the Europa Conference Final?

Perhaps we don’t want to sell him. Ready made Jota Neto replacement.

Mosquera , Chiquino , Hoever - there's a fair chance they will all be part of our squad next season . Maybe even Podence - who knows .

The above might not be everyone's choice , and I accept that , but the most damning stat in our squad over the last 10/12 matches has been the number of players on our bench - as many as 5 some days I think - who were u 21 players and had never player a senior game - they hadn't even gone out on loan .

Yes - we need a quality centre back , a quality striker if one is out there , a direct replacement for whichever top player leaves , but we also need to fatten our squad with players who have played at this level regularly and not 19/20 year players with no experience .

As mentioned when he was putting in a very good performance at Villa Park for Olympiacos, it's never really been about ability with Podence. It's consistency, his stupid playacting antics and his attitude.

I'd be surprised if he came back tbh, the noises out of Compton in the summer were that he'd basically downed tools and wasn't interested when O'Neil came in and offered him a route back into the squad.

I can definitely see us keeping Hoever as back up in the squad (hopefully replace lard-arse). Mosquera is pretty much guaranteed unless we get a large bid. Chiquinho has not done enough to be sold so probably stays by default, Cundle & Hodge same.

Add in Adams and sell Neto, RAN and probably Gomes and thats us done.

Fucking hell, that's gonna be bleak

Yep, that's relegation right there.

Put it this way this time next year the club won’t have to worry about VAR with that squad. Basically packing it out with championship players.

I don't think they'd be that stupid, another manager walks, even the Twitter superfans would wobble and we go down. I don't expect them to invest everything gained from sales, I do expect something though even if that's Championship players and punts from South America

If we sell 2 or 3 star players and do not spend a penny of that I would be amazed. Even last summer, when we sold Nunes we went out spent a chunk of it.

As TT says though, it will be type of player we sign and won't be a "big name"*

*Unless Pogba has his ban lifted of course...
