Do you really think you can watch TLJ not knowing about any of the characters and what they were up to?

Surely that's exactly the same with any middle film in a trilogy? Empire Strikes Back? The Two Towers? I don't think it's a specific issue that's unique to TLJ.

That's fair comment although I just seemed to notice it more than other trilogies. I think the two Towers is a very good film in it's own right.

I guess the nearest comparison to TLJ is the recent Hobbit trilogy of which the middle film is a total waste of time without the book ends either side but still a decent film.

I did enjoy the film and found several sequences fascinating although and I think my biggest gripe is with the director who would put something stunning in and then cut to a scene wildly out of sync with the rest of the film and story telling.

I do take your point but I very much doubt anyone would go to watch this without seeing TFA first. If they did dare to get Star Wars so wrong, I hope it confused the fuck out of them.

They had to pack a LOT into the film IMO. I didn't think the juxtaposition of scenes was an issue personally. Though the Canto Bight section as a whole didn't feel quite right, the pacing of the film didn't bother me. I thought that was good.
