The Rugby Thread

The other issue is that a large percentage of HIA incidents occur when the tackler goes low and puts their head the wrong side and gets a knee or hip to the head.
Very correct , it's a minefield trying to get it right , but that should not stop World Rugby from trying .

I think as a parent it is impossible not to support any ruling which protects the head .

Scottish Hooker out of the squad for now , with a replacement being called up . Suffering from concussion .

Injury during a match.....nope........injury in training.....nope..........he fell on the stairs of the hotel .

Stairs get 2 match ban?

Good job the TMO was there to step in. For a moment it was almost fun - couldn’t have that.

Uruguay having a go but a couple of decisions go against them. Yellow could have easily been a red, French player made no attempt to wrap, just a shoulder charge.
The disallowed try was a pity but the correct decision.

Yeah, still a shame. Got a few tidy players, be good if they kept it close for a while yet.

Another great shame, Uruguay back in it then a poor mistake let's France back in just as they were getting frustrated.

Enjoyable game that, spirited performance by Uraguay, ultimately their scrum and some scruffy play from their line out cost them.

Well even I can’t argue about the abject failure in refereeing consistency. Even putting how you feel about the Curry tackle and its consequences to a side the tackle by the French player was the most blatant red card all day and twice on Thursdays. A shameful decision by those in the bunker.

Dead right . It's a topic that has dominated the opening week , and that's bad news for World Rugby coming at a time when they are under increasing pressure to make the game as safe as possible .

I think one of Wales or Australia are on the first flight home.

Looks like last week was a flash in the pan, back to sloppy, stodgy play from England.

Not an avid rugby fan but watch enough. Always annoys me that England constantly box kick, no other side seems to do it. I get if you can get the defence before they are set but we just end up kicking it right back to them with good territory. Anyone offer any insight?

All international teams kick loads, box kicking mainly happens when in your own half. Think that's the only time England have used it today. Japan should have done the same at the end there.
