Pope isn't good either and Henderson is too green to be throwing into a major tournament.

For all that he's erratic at club level Pickford has rarely let England down. Good penalty record too.

Henderson is the one I'd choose. He needs to be played in qualifiers. No better time to get him ready. Certainly against the likes of San Marino.

I think barring injury (keep that knobhead Mings away from him) or a catastrophic loss of form (unlikely) he'll go. Southgate massively values him on character alone and if we do play three at the back then he's one of the best options.

Declan Rice praised the influence of Conor Coady within the England dressing room on Football Focus
He bigged him up after his debut too:

“I think the best two I’ve probably seen at driving the team in the changing room, talking to everyone and getting everyone up for it is Jordan Henderson and Conor Coady. It was his (Coady’s) first game for England. It was really powerful to watch how he took what he does at Wolves into a changing room, full of superstars. And he had that mentality which was so good to hear and to listen how he drives the team.”

TBF I think I could have genuinely kept a clean sheet against San Marino!

The fact he is seen as an option to wear the armband after 4 caps speaks volumes (we are not in the Sven era where the armband was passed around every 5 mins in a game).
Already in the leadership group Southgate has created, even if he is on the bench he has an influence on the squad.
Utterly crazy we are talking about Coady like this as under KJ he was a shit midfielder and Lambert an acceptable RB option, if you liked your RB's to stay in their own half.

Ahh the stint at right back where I'd gladly of driven him to his next club and not asked for petrol money where if you told me that was a future England captain centre half I'd have laughed at you.

I'm adamant I'd have made the worst scout in football history

Coads was fine defensively at RB but he crossed the half way line and he was lost.
Probably looked better as Iorfa had lost his head and Doc was/is rubbish as a standard RB

I don't think you were the only one that has happened too. Most of us would've done the same.

I wish I'd stuck £10 on him captaining England at that point. Would've made a pretty penny.

Turkey stuffing Norway currently, in the same group Holland have just gone 2 up against Latvia. If Holland had someone who could finish they would be a dangerous side

Ireland stick 19 year old in goal for his debut. Gavin Bazuna plays for Rochdale on loan from Man City. Month ago would have been considered 5th choice keeper.

Hopefully wont be too busy v Luxembourg

The curse of Stale?

Ouch. The Republic of Ireland are losing to Luxembourg.

That’s an absolute shocker from the ROI

Ouch is bit of an understatement.
Dodnt play well, ah well we wouldnt have enjoyed Qatar anyway.

Fuck me that is shocking.
I wasnt watching as we have a movie night on Saturdays but by all accounts we were awful

Can someone check on Roy Keane. He may actually explode reacting to that result

Ronaldo denied a last minute winner tonight when this was not given as a goal
