Are we really seeing a discussion about how good Chilwell was against San Marino?

Saka and Rashford out for the Albania and Poland games.

A real shame for the former. I would take him because he's so able in so many positions (not your jack of all trades merchant, he's genuinely good wherever you put him) but if he's hardly had a chance to play for England I'm not sure he'll go.

I think he might miss out. I also fear for TAA, which seems staggering considering where he was late in the 2019-2020 season.

I don't think TAA will go barring injuries. Southgate rates Trippier, James and Walker over him which based on England performances is fair enough.

TAA role is a bit niche for Liverpool, and this doesn’t translate to England in either a 4 or a 5. Not a genuine WB in a 5 and not good enough defender in an already suspect defence in a 4.

Chuck in he’s not having a great season because of his clubs failings/injuries and it’s not really that crazy he’s not getting picked.

I agree. It was a perfect storm last season and he looked an absolute world beater. More difficult circumstances now and he has faded from certainty to hopeful contender status.

Thankfully I think Winks won't go now, hopefully never plays again.

Dier is on shaky ground and Ings has to get fit and get some goals before the end of the season if he wants a spot.

I think it depends on Southgates options in other areas. Walker can double up at RCB (but I hope he’s never picked there again) and RB/RWB Saka can do LB/LWB and other areas.

I liked the look of Bellingham last night. We’ve got too much talent in certain areas and a void of it in others.

I think Southgate will alternate with the 4 and the 5 dependent on opposition. Against the very best i'm ok with the 5 as long as he doesn't play 2 holders as well. I just hope he sets that bar high and not as low as Poland this week for instance

We need to get as many of our attacking players on the pitch as possible. 343 sacrifices too many of them and we don't have 2 good enough in the middle to make it work.

My 11 at the moment

Henderson
Wan-Bisakka Stones Maguire Shaw
Mount Rice Foden
Sterling Kane Grealish

I quite like it (apart from Slabbers) but AWB has no chance.

We’d have to score 4 every game (possible) as we’d be conceding at least 3.

Trent for AWB but this is pretty similar to what I’d go with. A lot to ask of Rice even though he is capable of covering a lot of ground.

---------------------Pope-------------
James---Stones-Maguire--Chilwell
-------------------Henderson--------
------------------Mount-----Foden-----------
----Sterling--------Kane---------Grealish
Against weaker teams

Coady and Rice in for Mount and Grealish against the stronger and go 3512

-----------------Pickford---------------

Trippier-------Stones----Maguire*----Shaw

----------------Rice--------------------

----------Mount-------Foden-------------

-------------Sterling----Grealish------------

------------------Kane----------------------

*Would rather not but that's where we are

You'd choose Pickford? He's shite.
