The Race to be Relegated with Wolves, 24/25 Thread

Not defending them and there are a couple on here who do too, but they've been conditioned to think that way by all the noises from inside the club. It'll not be long to see whose correct.
I don't really care about being correct mate. I hopefully showed that with our Nuno exchange some time ago. Actually, scrap that, in this case I really do hope I'm correct. If I've been conditioned to think the way I do then so be it, I suppose we all are conditioned to some extent.

I was replying to JD rather than directly to yourself, you posted whilst I was typing. I think everyone hopes you are correct. Personally I think the fact we've not kept a clean sheet in the league since February makes it unrealistic irrespective of the fixtures.

The form and management set up makes me feel we are more likely to lose 2 of the next 3, than win 2 of them.

I think if he loses either of the next two he gets sacked.
I think 4 points probably saves him (it shouldnt) but won't help us in the relegation fight much. I suspect we might only get 1 point, that should see him gone, unfortunately I think that leaves with probably too much to do, whoever comes in.

Lose Saturday and we are 7 points plus GD off safety. It was 4 + GD when Lop joined

We will know more about our chances after Saturday, lose that and we are done I think. Win the next two games and we have a fighting chance. We have a chance because we have three teams in touching distance, and a clutch of clubs just above that group. Non of whom we have actually played yet. While it's difficult to see us putting together top half form between now and xmas, the same surely applies to the other sides down there too?
The next two games are crucial for us and for GON, I think. I cling to the hope that we can turn things round. Lose these though and I will be down with the doom and gloomers.

For all the talk of an easier run, I think we'll only be marginal favourites for Palace, and obviously everybody in the league will be looking at So'ton at home as a banker. Fulham an Bournemouth are both better than us, with better managers. Away at Everton can be anything (apart from a good game of football) so by the time we get to West Ham we could be miles off safety.

You can make a case 2 points from 6 games, and you can make a case for 12 points from six games, but if we were putting the spread 9 points from the 18 available I'd definitely be on 'unders'.

I think there are so many eggs in the basket now for this Palace game that I'm not convinced GON and his team are mentally strong enough to deal with it.

We need an early goal badly

You can't even have any faith in us keeping a lead, a team that's properly managed doesn't get 0 points out of Chelsea, Newcastle and Villa from where we were at HT (both in terms of scoreline and performance).

I'd argue we need to go at least 2-0 up early!

Just looked at our run up till the end of the year. Even trying to be mildly optimistic, I can only get to 12 points. That's half the season gone, even if we get a couple of half decent January signings we will be deep in the shit. The only hope is Southampton, Ipswich and one other will be down in the crap with us.
Yes I'm feeling despondent this morning.

If Palace are without Wharton and Eze that's obviously massively beneficial but I can't see I'm overly confident even if that's the case. We need a very bare minimum of 4 points from these 2, maybe even all 6.

If the promotions sides were as poor as last year I’d still have a little hope but I think Leicester will keep picking up unexpected points and that leaves us in the mire as I can’t see us finishing above Everton, Palace or anyone else.

I think we'll finish above Southampton and Ipswich, beyond that it's going to be hope more than expectation we finish above Palace, Everton or Leicester.

There is often a team that goes on a terrible run and gets sucked in too (still hope that will be Brentford) we've already had ours (hopefully :ROFLMAO: )

You need to have the shithouse ability which we don’t have. Ability to win matches 1-0 is massive here. It’s what Lop got pretty good at 1-0 v West Ham, Chelsea, Spurs & Villa and clean sheets v Liverpool, Brentford and Palace in more comfortable wins.
We weren’t especially good on the eye but picked our battles well.
You simply aren’t 3-2 or 4-3 your way to safety.

Problem is it doesn’t look like anyone is having points docked.
Brentford have adapted well to Toney leaving and Leicester don’t look as bad as the promoted 3 last season.
Forest have a proper manager now and have comfortably moved past us.
We’ve stood still probably crept backwards and have slid into the relegation zone.
The fact is it’s all very avoidable especially with Hobbs and his squad unbalancing recruitment and GON reverting to tactics that makes about 6 forward players redundant.
