The R.I.P. Thread

Derek Martin, actor (maybe best known as Charlie Slater in Eastenders), 92

Claudette Calvin, (in)famous at 15 years of age for refusing to vacate her seat on a crowded segregated bus to a white woman in Montgomery, Alabama, aged 86 years. She was arrested, tried and convicted on all 3 counts. Nowadays, she would be shot in the head...

One for the old `uns.

Sheila Bernette. Comedy actress/variety star. Was all over T.V. back in the 60`s. 94.

Had to google her - the name meant nothing.
But the face is very familiar. Never the main star, a comedy sidekick for decades.

John Boulter 94, the last surviving member of the variety show reform would love to bring back to tv to piss off the lefty woke PC communists, and show them how great tv was in the good old days, oh yea the show, the black and white minstrel show.
Here he is in make up before he goes on IMG_3578.jpeg

I’ll have to google when he retired as I think he was still going in his fifties. Played for Warwickshire too.

Edit - retired at 48.

Rear Admiral John Roberts 101,
D day, arctic convoy and Korean War veteran, was also captain of HMS Ark Royal in 1972 when the MOD sent a signal “PROCEED WITH ALL DISPATCH TO BRITISH HONDURAS” ( now Belize) because Guatemala was planning to invade, he was 2500 miles away, two days later and 1300 miles away he launched two buccaneer bombers who overflew the Guatemalan troops as a show of force, who then had second thoughts and retreated, his crew had singlehanded seen off the invasion

One of Britain’s last remaining heroes has died. Charlie Richards, 104, told last year how he survived a “living hell” in World War II . He was then one of only two Chindits still alive.
