The R.I.P. Thread

Derek Touzel – one of the last surviving Jerseymen to have fought in the War – passed away on Christmas Day morning at Lakeside Care Home in St Peter.

We are saddened by the passing of our former winger Terry Wharton, at the age of 83, after a short illness.

Terry more than 200 appearances for the club and was a key part of our side during the 1960s, including the LA Wolves team who won the United Soccer Association championship in 1967.

Everyone at Wolves sends their condolences to Terry's friends, family and loved ones, and supporters will have the chance to pay their respects during a prematch tribute at Molineux this afternoon.

So sad to here this. Had a lot to do with amateur football locally after finishing professional football, I believe.

Ah thats sad, he was the era just before my interest kicked in.
Saw him a few years ago in a fund raiser compared by David Instone, featured Wharton, McAlle, Dave Edwards. It was a good night, Terry was the most engaging with the best stories.

He was at Wolves when I first started watching them playing right wing. He scored his first hatrick in the 7-0 defeat of the Albion and netted 43 times out of 44 penalties taken during his pro career.

After he retired from football, he went on to manage at Stourbridge, Brewood and Wednesfield.
