The R.I.P. Thread

Dolores O'Riordan from the Cranberries has died at the age of 46.

Dolores O'Riordan, 46. I loved the Cranberries for a while in the 90s.

I hadn't heard Everybody Else Is Doing It for over 20 years but thought I'd listen to it on my walk to work this morning. I'd completely forgotten how much my Mum used to play that album and unexpectedly started crying as soon as the first track started. It carried on as it dawned on me that she was alive the last time I'd heard most of those songs. Weird how some things can hit you by surprise like that. It's a beautiful album, though.

It was also my Mum who got me into them, she had all their albums in the 90's, played on rotation in our house while she did the housework.

Jimmy Armfield, 82

Bah. I used to love listening to him on co-commentary duty on FiveLive. There was an excellent programme that featured him recently and how he got into football. He went to a Rugby playing school and didn't play for even play for a junior football team but was seen kicking a ball at school and a teacher asked if he could fill the numbers for a trial match at Blackpool as they were one short. The rest was history.

RIP
