The R.I.P. Thread

DON'T DO THAT !!! I opened the RIP thread to read Newbridge Wolf

never actually clicked that he'd replied to it :)

Your starter for ten, why on earth would you call your son 'Bamber '

It's what posh twats do.
I liked Bamber on UC, in fact even after this long when the programme starts I still expect it to be 'with Bamber Gascoine'

About 25 years ago my mate and I had a Stiffy Stakes. One of the names he suggested was Bamber Gacougne. I asked him why and I still remember his response. “Just imagine someone tells you he’s died and he’s on your list so you shout out loud “yes”! Loved him on UC and was amazed to hear recently Jeremy Paxman has now done it for longer than Bamber. RIP.

Ended its first run in 1987, I don't remember him on the show either (I know the name obviously, he was shorthand for "a clever person" when I was growing up :D ).

Brought back in 1994 and Paxman has done it ever since.

Also seems the original run was ITV rather than BBC! Would never have known that. Thought it was a Beeb staple all the way, far too highbrow for commercial TV.

It was on Sunday lunchtime just before or after Brian Walden. ITV was quite highbrow for a couple of hours on a Sunday back then. Surely you've all seen 'him' in the Young Ones?

The Young Ones finished when I was 3...

(I didn't care at all for the couple of re-runs I've seen)

I can only assume it was er, of its time.

A bigger miss than Elanga's penalty the other night for me.

I was 15 when it finished. I loved it at the time. I imagine it probably hasn’t aged well.

My first patched sleeveless denim jacket that you put over your leathers had VERY METAL written across the shoulders in honour of Vivyan Bastard.
