The R.I.P. Thread

First comedian I saw live as a student in the mid 90’s.

Incredibly funny man. Very sad news, 58 is no age to go 😞

Not since Rik Mayell has a celebrity death done me in. An absolute star, one of the funniest men on the planet..

He looked rough the last few times I've seen him, bad news, very young to be going.
Liked him on the panel shows but not keen on his stand up.

Watched a "Cats Does Countdown" video on Facebook a few weeks ago and have been continuously recommended them ever since. Have spent ages watching them when should have been doing other things. Very funny.

Really really sad, a very funny man with a great sense of humour. My favourite thing he did was the whole Carrott in a box with John Richardson.

Austin Mitchell, 86. Proper politician.
MP for "Great" Grimsby. I don't remember anything great about Grimsby, but knew he was the MP. Can recall him from tv in the 70s - not for any show he did, but for his enthusiasm and his wonderful accent. Must be the only regional tv presenter I still remember from that era.
Always smiling.

Proper politician - and proper voice.

I met him at a Comedy festival aftershow party about 10yrs ago. He was very dismissive tbh when all the other comedians were great banter and happy to meet people.
Still though, he was a good comedian, very dry, not many like him left now
mate of mine had a seriously ill daughter. One of those extremely rare illnesses, that doesn't get much coverage, funding etc. Mate set up a charity and info page for his daughter. Sean Lock volunteered to be a patron, and my mate was glowing about the time he gave to promoting the cause and how he wanted to learn about the illness and how he could help.

I was genuinely shocked when mrs jelly told me this news.

Very sad to hear of Sean Lock passing, a wonderful tribute in the guardian by Harry Hill.

A brilliant comic loved his stand up was fortunate to see and meet him at the Civic.

He spoke about growing up near Eton and him and his mates would go over go the school to try and guess which little bastard would ruin our lives in years to come. Genuinely one of the best stand ups I've seen.

That's knackered my plans for a tribute act of two fat lads and calling it the heavily built brothers
