The Official World Cup 2018 Megathread

100% penalty on Kane though not given. There's at least 3 or 4 of them a game not given but an accidental arm to the face where the player runs in to the arm is, yeah great.

Yes. It is fucking moronic by Walker, but still it is soft. Especially compared to them pulling off a challenge that would get a warning in WWE at the other end.

Softest penalty ever? Really?

Softer say, than when Kevin Phillips fell over his shoelaces against us for Southampton in 2003?

You'd almost wonder if England are trying to miss these chances.

Disagree. Walker regularly has to defend those situations

Yeah he's a full back and has probably done that or given a slight nudge to an attacker thousands of times, means any accidental collision in the box is a penalty.

Where's the consistency, that's a pen on Kane no doubt. What was the game over the weekend where less worse than that was given? (less worse, being the other player was looking at the ball when he wrestled the opposition player down)
It was the Nigerian defender on Mandzukic on Sat.

Was a penalty on Kane - Tunisian player had no intent but to rugby tackle him

Lingard unlucky, just the wrong side of the post there

I don't mind the ref not giving the Kane penalty, it's more difficult to see than the Walker one. I do mind VAR looking at it and not giving it.

Good half by England but really need to take those chances

I have a feeling that they were looking at a potential handball on the line. Didn't look at the Kane foul. It was the replays afterwards that showed it.

England on wromg end of major decisions at World Cup shock!

Whilst defence try utmost to keep opposition in game.

Disappointing but it feels like same old England, I'm really not surprised.

Profligacy abounds. And yes, VAR should definitely have caught the foul on Kane for a pen.

Comms said that's what they were looking at, but you may well be right

It’s actually quite similar to the Russia game in the euros. We look slightly more creative than that game I suppose and a bit sharper out of possession

Martin Keown needs to fuck off with this “play through the compartments”

Trippier is doing very well, but really showing up the lack of ability from Young on the right.
