The Official Euro 2016 Megathread

Nobody tracked Witsel through midfield, patient build up but he shouldn't be having free headers 7 yards out at this level.

This is good news for N Ireland as it looks like 3rd in this group won't get more than 3 points.

Garbage. McClean running up a blind alley like the no skill loser he is and then Clark has to take the man if he isn't getting the ball.

Waaaaay too easy. Massively disappointed with Ireland today.

Clark has had a woeful second half. Looks every inch a Villa defender.

Can't play McCarthy again vs Italy. Two total no shows. I'd take Clark out for Keogh and hope Walters is fit to give Long some actual support. Don't put McClean on the pitch at any point as he is absolute shite. And try retaining possession every now and then, just a thought.

Well that wasn't good at all.
Gonna have to go at Italy a bit so might see McCarthy (who was very poor and rightly hooked) drop out for McClean/Walters/McGeady.
Would like to drop Clark but the alternative is Richard Keogh so not sure that's an improvement.

From what I have seen so far in the tournament, I cannot see Ireland beating Italy.

They seem to be hoping that 3 draws are going to be enough to see them through. Their tactics haven't really evolved any in the last 25 years, Big Jack could quite easily still be in charge.

Would love to tell you that your are talking shit but its true enough a shocking endictment of a football association who expects English clubs, along with English, Scottish and fucks sake even Norn Irleand FA's to produce players for it, no long tern planning, we have the oldest squad at the Euros, hard times ahead I think.

Feared that today Belguim have the touch of the flat track bully about them and we didint play well with shite tactics.

Reached the quarter finals that year by scoring two goals.

True unlike England who scored a mind boggling 3 to reach the same stage (then a performance against a team with no organised defence in Cameroon and the perception changes). That's also ignoring the amazing 5 goals Argentina scored in 7 games in finishing runners up.

Ignoring the nostalgia Italia 90 was easily the worst tournament in the last 30 years with England v Ireland being up there as one of the worst games at any finals.

Absolutely bang on right. Italia 90 was fookin garbage from start to finish. Mexico 86 was a far better tournament.

Objectively Italia 90 was poor viewing (though I have obvious nostalgia for it - first ever World Cup, England doing well despite iffy performances, Bully playing) but it was still miles better than the shitshower that was South Africa 2010. The worst tournament by an absolute mile that I have ever seen and hope I ever see.

South Africa was a horror show. Absolutely.

Euro 88 wasn't much fun at all bar the Dutch side being a good watch. Rest of it was cack.

England '66 was the best World Cup ever.

Hmmmm

Result-wise yes. But in terms of games if we take our biased specs off? North Korea v Portugal was immense stuff for sure, the final was a great game. Other than that what games were the highest quality?

I agree I don't remember saying that post that Italia 90 was a great Tournament, just highlighting a fact.
