The Music Thread Strikes Back

Done, the music is not really my style but at least it wasn't trains :)

Yep a video of a British Rail class 47 diesel loco with the Charlatans playing in the background

ps. I Googled the above
I'd be happier with that than Inspiral Carpets!

Speaking of the Carpets, with Life being 33 years old, I listened to it in the original format today. For the first time I understand what the lyrics to Sackville meant. Pretty progressive for the time.

They are getting close to Trigger's broom these days from what I consider the iconic lineup, only Boon and Lambert left

Stephen Holt was the original singer of the Carpets.. So in essence its three still.

Edit:- On reading again I understand you point with the iconic part.

Aye I get that. It's Lamberts and Holts band if you go back far enough. I just see it as Lambert, Hingley, Boon, Gill and Walsh. I know Craig bless him isn't with us anymore and Martyn doesn't want to be in the band any longer probably linked to that, but for me it stopped being MY Carpets when they sacked Tom. Probably seen them live more than any other band, the last time was Rock City in 2006ish

If you get the chance see Tom with his band the Karpets. The passion is still there and the sound is how you knew it was from the old days. The sound is not Boon and Lambert but its fucking very close. Saw him in Hednesford and he's touring with Black Grape this year as well.

Paul Simon Live in Central Park from 1991 on Sky Arts right now. Brilliant show but fantastic location too. Looks like there are millions there.

Edit - Chevy Chase just arrived 🤣

been noticing the excitement building for going to see James with a 22 piece orchestra and an 8 person choir tonight at symphony hall. I know I am heavily biased, but it is going to be epic!

I guess the music thread is the most appropriate place for this. My Dad and his mates from The Barley Mow pub are in an old fogie folk band called The Barley Beats…he has just sent me the link below to their debut performance and interview on Black Country Radio. I haven’t listened to it yet as it’s a two hour show but I’ll check it out over the weekend.

(My Dad is on the far left of the pic next to the guy with the impressive beard).

Edit: I have no idea why the Facebook link seems to be in German but it takes you to the right place 🤣
