The Music Thread Strikes Back

I saw Starsailor at - I think - the same festival as the one I mentioned previously. They were bad but didn't leave a permanent scarring in my ears like she did.

Hearing she-who-must-not-be-named was basically the musical equivalent of drinking too much cider/<insert alcoholic beverage of choice here> as a teenager, being violently sick on it and hating the smell of it as an adult, and forever more.

Quite liked Florence and the Machine first album, not so much since, only seen them live on TV but seemed a decent show.

I can't abide her voice - one of the few artists I have to actively avoid. Appalling.

I remember walking along the back of the Other Stage at Glastonbury one year as she absolutely butchered The Chain. I'd rather listen to Adrian Chiles narrating his autobiography on Audible than suffer that racket again.
Luckily, or perhaps unluckily, for you that's apparently the only time they've performed that song! Long way from their best work, though I don't think the base material gives any opportunity to display her vocal range.

I'll be in no rush to listen to any rendition of that track again any time soon.

That's good to hear, but recently Spotify let me down by sneaking her abhorrent version of Jackson by Johnny Cash and June Carter onto my Discover Weekly.

I did a sick in my mouth. It's really bad.

I've never met anyone yet that's confessed to being a fan of Florence, but there she is, selling out stadiums, headlining festivals etc. People are weird.

Truck Festival (which is 5 minutes from my house) announced their line up last night. We took the kids (3 and 6 years old) last year and they saw the likes of Sam Fender, Bombay Bicycle Club, Langers' favorites Kasabian & The Kooks amongst others. Can't say I'm too fussed about anyone on the line up they have released so far for this year. Everything Everything are fantastic but I've seen them 5 times already. Two Door Cinema Club, Alt-J & Royal Blood headline.

bit the bullet and purchased a ticket to see Underworld at the royal albert hall (2nd visit there in a 6 month period!), as they're doing a teenage cancer trust show.

Two Door Cinema Club are great. Never seen Royal Blood other than on TV highlights of Glastonbury, but they were great on that.

The Daily Mail getting loads of abuse from music fans due to their Headline 'Unknown' blues singer beats Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Adele to Grammy award......its Bonnie Raitt ffs.
They'll be telling us she's the singer who covered George Michael's 'I Can't Make You Love Me' next.

Suede proving my first 2 album rule is bollocks - this is great and from their most recent album

I stopped listening after Head Music which was mostly inane, flowery waffle.

Liege and Lief by Fairport Convention.

It's a stunning work of art. I don't think any other album can mix folk with rock and well as this does.

Got tickets for Space in a couple of weeks at the O2 Academy. Can't wait, its the anniversary of Spiders and Tin Planet tour. Some fantastic tunes on both albums. Big thumbs up for Attack of the Mutant 50ft kebab and Anthony's brainwaves as well..

Brilliant album, Richard Thompson is a superb guitar player and song writer, still love his stuff.
