The Music Thread Strikes Back

I think we are just missing the bloke sweeping the road...

Total Eclipse of the Heart

Music has been the thing that has been getting m through this situation. I reckon if I didn't have music I would be really struggling.
It has been a change for me not having the mp3 player on as much. However, it has allowed me the time to dig through some old albums and stuff not listened to for some time. I set up a portable cd player in the room I'm working from home in, and sorted out various bits and bobs to listen to. Re-engaging with some stuff has been really good.

Had a tidy up today, and swapped over a bundle of albums. I've put away the following:
a tribe called quest - peoples instinctive travels and the paths of rhythm
apollo 440 - electra glide in blue
badly drawn boy - hour of the bewilderbeast
beta band - best of
sheryl crow - sheryl crow
delgadoes - hate
the BPA - i think we're gonna need a bigger boat
fuck buttons - tarot sport
gomez - liquid skin
gomez - mechismo ep
jamiroquai - travelling without moving
jurassic 5 - unkown
knights of the occasional table - eden
levellers - see nothing, hear nothing, do something
Levellers - levellers
lo fidelity allstars - how to operate with a blown mind
mercury rev - deserters songs
mogwai - happy songs for happy people
Mogwai - young team
alanis morissette - jagged little pill
nightmares on wax - smokers delight
orb - orblivion
termintor x - the valley of the jeep beats
public enemy - revolverlution
public service broadcasting - the war room ep
public service broadcasting - live at brixton
josh ritter - hello starling
josh ritter - the animal years
sabres of paradise - haunted dancehall
sigur ros - Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust
simon & garfunkel - the definitive...
son of dave - explosive hits
jim morrison & the doors - an american dream
ludovico einaudi - una mattina
wipeout 2097 soundtrack

also had a few mixes from radioactive man, krafty kuts, ali b, soulwax, sasha and digweed (northern exposure!), adam freeland, fatboy slim and slam.

Srted out another pile of stuff to liste to, and some stuff remained in the room as have been enjoying it so much.

So, currently sat with a mini vinyl player going through my late Father in Laws vinyl collection to see if they are in a good condition to sell on. Hundreds of 7" from the 50's onwards and a few that are somewhat out of shape, but still play perfectly.

However, my main take from the last couple of hours, comes from listening to a lot of Cilla Black tracks..how the fook did that screeching scouser get a record deal? Honesty thought the vinyl player was borked. Dreadful.

There' s a market for those, an old mate used to be the No1 50s/60 vinyl seller on e bay, made a nice living. Covers, and condition are pretty important for sale value, weight of vinyl, serial No's year of pressing, 1st/2nd/3rd press etc but they're easy enough to clean if they've got dusty, and they CAN be straightened, just google it and really research prices just in case you've got a gem in there. Sometimes some strange discs go for ££££ you wouldnt think,Good Luck, be interested to hear what you find. And yeah , Cilla was no Dusty Springfield

I know there are boxes of vinyl in my folks loft going back years. All not in great condition if I remember rightly, so don’t know if sitting on a pile of cash or worthy for the tip.

source tags & codes - trail of dead has been added to tim's twitter listening party.

great album.

Whoever put Dusty Springfield up in a conversation about Cilla hang your head in shame young man !!!
