The Music Thread Strikes Back

rumours about the december underworld gig:
Doors - 18.30
18.30 - 19.30 ‘Drift’ Intro
19.30 - 20.45 Rick Smith & The Misterons Drift Pre-Show
20.45 - 21.15 Transition (The Misterons)
21.15 - 23.30 Underworld Main Show

Top night at the Blizzards gig in Hammersmith. Nice small venue and I don't think my hearing has return to normal just yet.

Think my decison to drive home after the gig was a bad one. Suffering today and it feels like I haven't slept for days (not helped by what feels like the start of a dose on Man Flu)

Don't say this! I've decided to drive to/from the underworld gig, as hotels wanted £150 for one night, and I'd have had train tickets on top of that. I decided I can't afford this, as I'm having to top up darlo's 2020/21 season ticket fund :icon_wink:

At least I'll be travelling back sat night/sunday morning...

Edit - rudely forgot to say glad you enjoyed yourself!

The drive itself was fine (apart from getting to the Car Park where the Sat Nav sent us on a right trip throught he side streets of London). Long day yesterday and getting into bed at 2am has annoyed my body.

Seems the Irish came out in their numbers last night to see one of their own. Every voice I heard (apart from the wifes) was an Irish accent. I know there was 1 English person there though, as Roisin Conaty was stood a few metres away from me

The Hey Jude rendition at his last Glasto was appalling. Tone deaf is under-selling it.

McCartney, or Lennon for that matter couldn't sing in the 60's. As an event I'm sure it'll be amazing and memorable if you are there, on the tele it'll be awful

got some new shelving for the vinyl.
decided to take the old record store plastic wrapping i'd left on many of them, some of which are over 30 years old.. oh dear!

lol! years ago i picked up a load of pvc sleeves, probably offuv ebay. dirt cheap, but keeps the vinyl in good condition.

anyhows, the underworld drift box has arrived. my goodness it is a thing of absolute beauty! there is an absolute phenomenal amount of music. each episode has one or 2 extra tracks. the other downloads that were available between releases have also been made available in a polished format, and are glorious. plus, i think there's a bonus mix included there. all in all, there is so much to digest, as well as a huge book full of interviews about the whole process. it's absolutely phenomenal.

so stoked about what their show is gonna be like a week on saturday. & i've got the chemical brothers gig tomorrow! :disco:

I wasn't precious enough about them until shoving them on discogs. some of the old eighties ones were problems where the plastic seems to have melded in with the cover lol. so I was almost peeling it off with some dubious results depending on the cover quality.

only gig coming up for me is the Telescopes. Wire play harenhounds in Jan I think but I may have missed the boat as it should have sold out by now

always been precious about my vinyl, though a fair few of my 7" singles appear to have not travelled when I moved. Think the important ones are all there though.

Yeah, wire is waiting list only now.

The above 2 are my last ones this year. Should be good ones though! 2manydjs are guests for the chems, so gonna have to be there early for that!

Oasis for the decade.

Kylie for 2019.

My top for the year was Leonard Cohen. It would seem I have been rather miserable this past year.
