The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2025/2026

So United watch Amorim play 343 at Sporting. Interview him - "I play 343". Hire him - "I play 343", "I play 343, "I play 343". Then a year later the Head of Recruitment - the guy whose sole job is to find players for 343 - tells Amorim to play a different style. No wonder Amorim was pissed.
What a fucking shitshow.

The football was diabolical, the results absolutely miles off what you would expect (to the point United fans were getting used to it and saying that drawing at Leeds was a good result), he gives off proper loser energy and he was totally inflexible. Plus some of the worst subs I have ever seen, why did he keep taking off a CH for a CH, regardless of the match situation.

Shocking performance. He might come good elsewhere perhaps but he was a dreadful Man Utd manager. We're a very poor team and yet I barely felt threatened by them last week.

343 might not be right for Man U, Amorim himself might be absolutely useless, but if the "feedback" from above is the Head of Recruitment telling him to change system, then Amorim has every right to be angry.

Not really?

If you watched them tapping it around between three centre halves against 10 man Everton (and losing) then you'd quite rightly tell him to stop being a fucking clown and change it.

Yeah he was just out of his depth. I’m always wary of people who think they should only play one system anyway. That doesn’t equal a style of play at all

And as Dan said, the football was so awful. Their best performances under him were workmanlike type performances against city, Liverpool etc

In that case you sack him for being useless, and ask yourself how the fuck you screwed up hiring him in the first place. Perhaps you (Ratcliffe) are the real problem.
You dont tell him to change the system you hired him to use.

That isn't why they've sacked him though.

They've sacked him because the results are appalling and he's a dickhead who keeps falling out with people and slagging the club/players off.

Plus how can you respect someone who is scared of watching a penalty shootout against Grimsby, FFS.

"I play 3-4-3" is basically openly admitting "I am one-dimensional"

Surely the best coaches assess the squad, and decide the best formation for the players they have at their disposal while assessing the weak spots for improvement from the transfer market.

Plus he is only saying that as it is a trendy formation just now. Surely if the line was "I play 2-3-5" he wouldn't get hired as it isn't 1955.

Thing is they were flexible. They were a lot more direct this season and adapted to a lot of the current tactical trends in the PL. Often one step behind the actual innovators and they made a lot of mistakes on the way but they made loads of changes.

Whether they lined up with a back 3 or 4 was one of the least impactful, almost cosmetic changes they made in his time there. It's a nonsense debate pushed by Neville etc, purely for clicks and attention. If you boil it down to 3 at the back Vs 4 at the back you're missing 99% of the conversation.

In the end he failed because he, his team and his squad just weren't anywhere near good enough.

The thing is - and we have found this ourselves this season - if you're going to play wingbacks then they need to be a proper fit for the role. If they're not then the whole thing falls down.

Dalot is an abysmal player by Manchester United standards, virtually zero output going forward and yet he's playing every single week, then he's trying to convert wingers like Amad into that position which is never going to work.

Imagine if Nuno lost his mind around 2019 and put Matt Doherty at LWB and Pedro Neto at RWB. We would have been shit.

Plus United continues to be a basket case under Brexit Jim, which is pleasing.

Has to be an interim really as there is nobody particularly attractive and easily available just at the moment. Not in the pools they need to be fishing in, anyway.

Personally, I would love to see them go for Zidane, as I think it would be a disaster

Yea the 4 vs 3 was overplayed and he was right how it annoyed him and how he addressed it. But him subbing a CB off every game at 60 mins was just stupid, him not doing anything to remedy our WBs and Tolu pinning back his back 5 and then giving Arias, Mane and Gomes the freedom of old Trafford was dreadful management. Plus the results just havent been good enough and the other things already mentioned.

Depends whether you want Villa or United most fucked up really. Outside of waiting for Madrid to get shot of Xabi Alonso, Emery is the best appointment United could make.

So it stuffs the B6 massive, but instantly improves the United clownshow.
