The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2024/25

No chance. If we lose on Saturday they're going to get proper spooked (Halloween, get it, no?) and will be aiming a lot higher than Gareth Ainsworth
Shi will leave it to Hobbs again wouldn't he?

I think Shi will give Uncle Jorge a call if he thinks we're in danger of going down (I mean, we are, but they don't seem to think so)

I don’t by think they’re that bothered or they’d have acted by now. One win in half a season and a complete inability to defend or control a game has been passively accepted.

I don't think the panic will happen in the same way as two years ago, I think Fosun/Shi have moved on from worrying about their asset losing value and now look more at clubs such as Swansea as the future model for ownership. I'm not convinced we would sack him even after an adverse result v Palace, I think they will give him to Southampton at least.

If it's the kind of loss they can blame on VAR then he might survive (he shouldn't, it's irrelevant, points are all that count).

If we were to lose 3-0 or worse then he'd simply have to go, there would be no possible way he could survive.

I don't think any loss, even a last minute VAR fuck up, can or should save him.

The narrative all season has been the tough fixtures, look who we've played. If you're sticking your eggs in that basket, Saturday is when you start picking up wins.

It's why his comments about it not being a must-win game were nonsense

Just can't see a 7 point gap from safety seeing him keep his job. A draw and he gets Southampton is my take.
I agree, and I think he'd beat Saints at home too. Even with those results we'd still be heading into the international break in the bottom 3 though

I think they are bothered. But Hobbs thinks he is the best thing since sliced bread and is desperate for him to suceed so doesn’t want to sack him until it’s completely obvious to even the biggest supporters of the club/GON that it’s not working (which will likely be too late and unrecoverable), and Shi doesn’t understand football so believes what he told and/or believes the tough fixtures line.

Anyone above those 2 isn’t interested and definitely doesn’t understand

Clearly Hobbs wants his man to succeed but I’m struggling to believe Shi hasn’t pulled rank if relegation is going to be a disaster. Maybe he thinks we can bounce back like other teams have, especially as once they brought Nuno in promotion was pretty straightforward. Alternatively, and far worse, Shi thinks that a combination of parachute money and player sales will bring in nearly as much as a sale of the club would.

If he thinks it’s not a disaster then he’s an idiot. Of course it is. We Could bounce back (would need a pretty good transfer window of ins and outs which we aren’t good at) but it’s easier to just stay in the league…

All well and good selling off all these players, but they can’t actually extract that money out the club. And that money will be wasted paying the wages of overpriced tat we can’t shift, a half full stadium and the club operating at a day to day loss.

I agree relegation would be a disaster but the fact The fact that Shi has stuck with a manager with one win in half a season of games, no clear game plan and an inability to keep clean sheets tells me he doesn’t. That being the case you have to ask why? Is it that he’s just incredibly stupid, has been completely conned by Hobbs to believe GO really is the man to get us out of the bottom three or something else. Previously he jettisoned Nuno for a poor season by his standards and sacked Lage when it was clear he was taking us down yet now he’s fiddling while Rome burns. It makes no sense if you believe relegation is a disaster.

Yes

That wasn’t purely football related. They hated each other.
and sacked Lage when it was clear he was taking us down
The crowd turned so he acted. Also allegedly the players had as well. The crowd haven’t vocally turned yet. “Gary O Neil’s barmy army still sung” but I actually think that’s more because we have no other songs… but Jeff doesn’t known that…

They think he will turn it round. He wil go if we don’t get 4 points from the next 2. Which may end up being too late.

He sacked Lage way later than he should have. Abysmal football for months, falling out with players, talking utter babbling nonsense all the time and threw away a gentle start featuring Leeds, Fulham, Bournemouth, Southampton and West Ham (a measly 5 points from those 5 games, four of those teams ultimately finished below us, and we were very lucky to get that many)

For the crowd to fully turn we need our Neves at centre half moment. Something like Hwang for Andre when behind in the next 2 games would do it.

The crowd are partly culpable as, crackers as it might be, the mood in the stadium will inform the decision made on leadership. One lucky winning position for a period of time tomorrow, an equaliser in a match we have to be winning and sections of the crowd will be singing for O’Neil. They deserve to be watching lower level football, but I’m getting condemned to the same sentence. It’s annoying me.
