The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2020/21

It would have been interesting to see how he'd have got on if only they'd backed him in the transfer market...

What a shitshow. You'd hope as fans that the board and the manager are as one voice. Clearly not the case there.
Very good article in the Athletic today (clearly written last week though) on the real story.

Apparently (the athletic) the only signing that was his was chilwell and the rest were “board signings”.

also apparently, he warned them that having that many youngsters come from outside the uk would mean they would hit a point where they would struggle and they needed to be aware.

also apparently, he’s been sacked because the Russian woman who runs Chelsea didn’t like some of the things he said.

Who'd have thought Russians would interfere where they aren't wanted...

Talk that she/the board wanted him to play Kepa.

Er, don't think I want a goalkeeper with no hands, thanks all the same.

Sounds like Frank wanted Declan Rice and the club were less keen to spunk hyper millions on an ex academy product they let go.

Such a nonsense mindset that, isn't it. What did Forest pay for Collymore, £2m? Wouldn't surprise me if we looked and did the same thing back then. But he was an incredible player (if a complex character).

Barca and Real throw away tons of players and end up buying them back, who cares if you let them go before. You can't get them all right at an early age.

Not that I'm a huge fan of Rice or that he'd solve all their issues on his own (he is at least not Kovacic or Jorginho, so they would improve by default) but who is making these decisions there? There seems to be no accountability for the amount they spend on paying off managers alone.

I can't substantiate them so won't post, but there was a well spread rumour as to why Collymore was let go.

Oh, I know the rumours.

But come 1993 (some five years after he left us) he was the real deal. If he were around now in his prime he'd be worth £60m+.

Point being that if you were offered him at a good price (which it was) then you'd be insane to say "no, we let him go for free ages ago so we'll have to turn it down".

Indian club Odisha FC has decided to terminate Head Coach, Stuart Baxter's contract with immediate effect.

His post match comments yesterday:-

"You need decisions to go your way and they didn’t. I don’t know when we’re going to get a penalty. I think one of my players would have to rape someone or get raped himself if he was going to get a penalty.”
