The Live Match Discussion Thread: 2019/2020

Chelsea were the target to chase down after the restart but they have picked up enough results to put them in a position where we can't really catch them.

Leicester was always the longest of long shots, they are not going to drop points to Bournemouth.

This is all a bit Dave Jones "we're looking up not down"...I'd rather get the first job done first :)

Then that's on us isn't it
Guess it depends on whether you are a glass half full or glass half empty kinda guy. We are probably the opposite
Call it one after they lose to United
Last game of the season, impossible to know what the situation is then, but hypothetically if a point suits both we know how that normally ends

We wanted a Leicester win tonight, we need to secure Europa and anything else is a bonus so the more points teams behind us drop the better.

No we didn't. Arsenal win is fine if we do our job correctly tomorrow.

Half empty? Your glass is smashed against the bloody wall.

I don't doubt we are a good side and we are definitely a top 6 team but we go behind in too many games which leads us to drawing too many and going on this seasons results it will definitely happen at least once in our last 5 games.

And Arsenal on Saturday.

We are a top side. FFS believe in our ability to win. We have won three of the last four and our in the top four of the form table in 2020.

We’re very good side but probably just short of the elite level just yet, top sides generally don’t drop points at home to BHA, Saints, Newcastle and Burnley all in one season. If you think we’re still a good shout for the CL that requires to win probably every game maybe drawing 1. Reality is that’s probably not going to happen.

I love your enthusiasm. We have beaten Man city Norwich Villa Bournemouth and West Ham twice.Of the other 14 teams we have beaten only three. We have not beaten anyone who we have yet to face. Sheff United Everton Burnley Palace Chelsea have been worth just three points so far this season. Now a win at Sheffield is doable but by no means a given and Chelsea certainly wont be on the beach. Its not an easy five games. two wins and three draws would be the best I can hope for. You dont want to lose to Sheffield either.

It will be what it is. Personally fourth is probably beyond us. Chelsea have stretched away and I don't think United are going to even drop a point in the run in. So let's chase Leicester and see if fifth is on. If it isn't then so be it, we just go and win the Europa.

I'm sorry for Nketiah in his enthusiasm but that is how VAR should work. Oi ref - look at the monitor and see what you think and make the decision on the pitch.

For once I’m happy with how VAR is used.

Any pessimists/realists or worriers out there should jump on Sheffield United at about 100/30 on the exchanges.

The offside on both disallowed goals too. Sian Massey flagged on both, have a quick look, any evidence she's made a howler? No, then no goal then, let's restart the game.

I loved that VAR needed 10 replays before they called the ref over. He saw it once and sent him off.

The one just now - both comms failed to mention that she'd raised her flag and the ref had blown his whistle ruling it out. VAR wouldn't have been able to give the goal if they'd wanted to.
