The Live Match Discussion Thread: 2019/2020

Grealish was on Soccer AM today. Apparently he uses oil then blow drys, puts loads of wax in, then a shit ton of hairspray to hold it in place.

I was shaking my head throughout.

Joking about Mings' hair aside, the obsession over what a footballer's hair looks like is odd to me.

On topic, McGinn looks a neat, if annoying, little player. Like a Scottish Diogo.

That's a peach from the new boy.

EDIT: Ah, slight deflection off Mings, think it may have been in the corner either way.

For 3rd?

I wouldn't go nearly that far.

Yeah that might be a stretch - whatever the result of today's game suspect that Spurs will sort themselves out sufficiently

But the other 3 of the supposed big 6 then: -

Arsenal - improved, but still suspect defensively
Chelsea - will have to rely on the kids they have normally just shoved out on loan
Man Utd - no coherant plan for what they are doing

All are vulnerable - there are others hovering so won't neccesarily be us that gets there (tomorrow's game v Leicester will be a good test for that role - benefit for us is that all our pre season games have had more riding on them than usual)

Chelsea and United are, IMO, going to be looking for new management by Christmas. But top 3 is a huge task regardless. We are a talented, well coached side. But not that talented throughout the 18, not yet.

Big shock for Tottenham, get your 2nd best player on and things start to improve.

Fantastic work from Lamela there.

I still really like him, even if he isn't threatening to reach anything like the potential he showed back at Roma.

Shame that Grealish fucked up...really is

Villa were the better side until Eriksen came on, IMO. Will be interesting to see how they react after looking good for most of the match and then getting utterly put to the sword in just ten minutes.

First half Villa had a decent plan and looked decent
Second Half. Decided to sit deep and defend the lead and essentially gave the game to Spurs.

They were not the better side - they had one chance - Spurs just looked a bit static and lacking creativity.

They were lucky to still be ahead at the end of the first half after Kane's two chances. Second half they barely got out of their own half.
