The Live Match Discussion Thread: 2019/2020

Is it as controversial in the rest of Europe? Seem to remember earlier in the season UEFA saying we're not applying it correctly, in that decisions should only be reversed when its a clear and obvious error, not minute off side decisions

No, we are the only ones with the toenail offsides. Riley would say we are the only ones interpreting the laws correctly...apart from when they cock it up like tonight

Is the potential handball from tonight perhaps deemed irrelevant because it's an own goal? Isn't the wording of the rule something to do with gaining control or directly leading to a chance, it's pretty hard to argue it did either of those things.

Think it's possibly more of an issue to do with what's already proved to be a shit rule rather than shit officiating.

The two minutes÷ checking of offside with the lines is contrary to the rules as set by IFAB and will be binned off next season. In place will be a quick check of a couple of replays, and only clear and obvious offsides given.

Which is how it should have been this year - everyone was all for clear and obvious, no one wants pain in the arse levels of micro management.

It feels wrong that a team playing Jordan Ayew as their first choice #9 isn't really in a relegation scrap.

Looking at the Palace team now Zaha has gone off injured, you just can't see any chance of them scoring (maybe a Townsend blast).

Salah makes it two.

Meyer looks alright. No clue who he is, though.

No way Hennessey should be getting beaten from there, even though it was a great hit.

Southampton Arsenal isnt exactly stonking either. Gunners probably deserve their lead but its a bit turgid.

Sky apologising for sound quality in the Arsenal game. There is clearly a plane buzzing overhead, so I guess it is another banner and they don't want to give it the attention.

Football in 2020. Arsenal subs holding brollies to shield from the sun.
