The January 2025 Transfer Thread

Also managing expectations by saying we won’t be bringing in anything else. Just a defender.

I think a right sided forward would be very handy tbh, we've not had a decent performance from there all season.

Rodrigo Gomes could still be anything in the wide positions. He just needs a chance. Doesn't make sense either when he scored 3 goals in pre-season. I can't believe GON whining about changing his setup because of signings means he can't get a chance, when we have to suffer mediocre shite like Guedes and Bellegarde.

I agree that he looks a skillful and speedy player. I'm not surprised we haven't seem much of him after the game at Arsenal. He was continuously getting brushed aside and appeared to lack the physical strength to play in the Premier League at the moment.

Brian Clough felt the same about the young Ian Storey-Moore and told the press that they fed him steak to build him up.

I agree he should be ahead of Bellegarde who has shown nothing. I would not describe Guedes as “mediocre shite”. He has shown, in his infrequent appearances, that he can chip in with goals and assists.

Is it giving GON too much credit to say Rodrigo must be not showing enough in training to be so far behind in the pecking order?

Could be that he's just not ready, which is obviously not ideal considering what we lost with Neto

Seems odd to me that he can't get in at least off the bench, looked OK in pre season, can only think he's a bit of a twat in the dressing room or lazy on the training field, or maybe GON is just an idiot?

I don't think it's any of that tbh. From what I have seen of him in the minutes he has had, he just looks lightweight and gets pushed off the ball far too easily. He also seems to be quite quick but lacks that extra something to get past a man.

The above is from a small sample size but you'd imagine the same is showing in training which is why his minutes have been limited.

Not sure what this says as its behind a wall.

So the question is whether Hobbs was wrong to buy him or is GON wrong to not be playing at all considering everybody's been wank on the right? Same for Forbs tbf. If I was being kept out by Bellegarde I'd be more than a little miffed

Bellegarde hasn't started any games since Liverpool in fairness, nearly two months ago.
