The January 2025 Transfer Thread

Pretty pointless if you don't know how to use them

Running a football club like an Australian stranded in a pokie room doesn't sound like the best idea.

That's GON who we'd given a 4 year contract to a month earlier. With that type of commitment you sign players to suit the style he wants to play. I like Andre, but he's not a GON player so the signing is inconsistent at best

pah! we saw him in goal FFS!!
I remember Keith Downing received the ball in our half not long after Bennett went in goal, and thought about absolutely hammering it back to Bennett because he was being pressed, the crowd collectively gasped and Downing thought better of it. Pre back pass rule, but still - don't welly the ball at the emergency keeper just after he's gone in goal, Keith.

Externally, some fans may feel we’ve left ourselves short. It’s actually completely married up towards what our plan was at the start of the summer.

Playing four at the back, we’re not going to carry five centre-backs. No club of our level would.

We had high hopes in Yerson and keeping a fifth senior centre-back happy would have been hard. With Max leaving, and Yerson coming in, we were perfectly comfortable with how that looked.

“That wasn’t Max’s fault, just like it’s not Yerson’s fault this season. We also have a strategy here where we like to have a young player in there to get them ready. Even if we’d signed another one, and we were looking, Santiago Bueno would have gone out on loan for regular football.

Morons.

Especially in a 4, the partnership is more important than the individuals. Got to think of CBs as pairings if we’re set on ditching a 5 for whatever dumbass reason.

Blegh.
