The Incoming Transfers Everywhere Thread: Summer 2023

With what money though apparently I heard we didn’t even have the money too pay for him if Bristol had accepted one of the first 2 offers

I know we look at the fee and think "wow" but fuck that, if we're not buying anyone I hope we don't sell anymore players, all we're doing is weakening the squad and making it more likely we'll have a miserable season/get relegated.

Also a loan offer can fuck off.

Oh that would go down brilliantly if we did that

We have rejected £30m so yeah let us loan him then we will give you the £30m you rejected...makes sense

Unless they pay £5m to loan him then the obligated to pay £30m next summer. Presume we would then either a) stash the money in the profit pile or b) take a loan out guaranteed against that figure and actually sign a player or 4

I guess this might work from an FFP point of view as this cash comes into next season's incomings rather than this seasons, which are already very swollen.

Blows out of the water the cash strapped reason why we can't sign players if we are willing to loan out guaranteed first team starters. I get that a loan can be taken out on future income but surely from a managers/squad/supporters perspective you should at least give out positive vibes of what you are trying to achieve in selling your high value players. Those lot down the road spent the squealish funds prior to him leaving so any backlash is negated. If suddenly two centre backs and a Scott like figure turn up and a few days later Kilman is gone then we all can all see/say that it is good business. If Kilman goes and then we are scratting around afterwards looking for who will sign then the optics of it look ridiculous.
It might all be part of the grand plan but at the moment Shi is making General Melchett look competent. I think that it was Hobbs who said earlier in the summer that we may have to be creative to refresh the squad but I didn't think it would involve a game of Russian roulette.

Regardless of Kilman going, we look ridiculous.

How much have we got in? 90mill? And we've spent nothing? The season starts a week tomorrow.

If we sell Kilman for £30m we'll get Cresswell for £5m and use Toti as the LCB.

Job done, profit-tastic.

Leaving Dawson and Toti as our only CB's?

1 moment away from having to use Jonny as a CB or over promoting Alfie Pond

It says 30m euros on that report, didn't we turn 35m down before?
If there is any truth in it I am just going to presume they will pay a loan fee, possibly 10m Euros and then the 30m next summer which hits the valuation we put on him.

I think its about as truthful as the guy who stated we were offering to do similar with Scott though

5 million euro loan fee up front
30 million euro requirement at the end of loan

That’s the €35m we wanted.

Spend €10-15m on Elvedi.

Same numbers in the squad, better player recruited and profit in the bank. Obviously that’s too sensible for Shi & co, it would appear.

I also think Kilman gets a hard time of it on here. Obviously I want us to have the best players possible, but he’s a perfectly serviceable mid-table centre half and he’s low maintenance and well liked in the dressing room (it appears).
