I work with several football clubs and unless you are genuinely Liverpool, Man United or to a lesser extent Celtic in the UK, it makes not a jot of difference. No one [apart from TWF's own wrong 'un Alan] is moved to follow/monetise a provincial working class town in the longer term because of the like of these influencers. You get a very small increase in revenue from overseas sales and memberships with the signing of a marquee player from a country but an incredibly small increase in revenue from a You Tuber or Mexican wrestler.

When Man City signed Haaland, their Overseas Membership (pack of goodies, a programme and access of additional media content) in Norway rose to 458. That's not a typo. It's now down to 252. A 'pack' and membership costs circa £50, depending on the one chosen, so 252 x £50 pays about 6 hours of his wages. The profit pays about 2.
