Tbf in the 70s the alternative to Blue Peter was Magpie which thought it was a cooler version (it wasnt) it did have Jenny Hanley though which was a bonus for a 14 year old boy.

Like Sally James another whose relations have wrecked her legacy in my mind

Dunno about them, probably don't want to by the sounds of it.
Jeremy Hanley is the ex Tory Party Chairman- her brother. Sally James' son is that knob that pops up on all things Sky Sports cba to Google his name, something Smith, started as Baby Elvis on Soccer Saturday

That's probably why I've never heard of them then, the old saying 'you can't choose your family' comes to mind.

Tiswas totally ruled Swap Shop.

Blue Peter was something my mum sat me in front of. First presenters I remember were Lesley Judd, Peter Purves and John Noakes.

I spent my late teens having an unhealthy lust for Yvette Fielding.

Best kids programme for me was Series 1 Grange Hill.

Tucker, Alan, Benny Green, Trisha Yates. Fantastic stuff.

Loads of good characters later on, Suzanne Ross, Roland and Janet (“Whats wrong Rowlannnd?”)

Started moving into other things soon after but still remember ‘Just say no’ Zammo and all that stuff.

All about the connection with your age at that specific time I suppose but I couldn’t wait to get home and turn the telly on.

I went to school with kids who weren't allowed to watch Grange Hill, their parents thought it was too edgey for them. Some of the storylines from the start until Zammo were quite hard hitting, racism, drugs, bullying, abuse in the home, death, but not contextually in a sanitised way.

I think the Gonch, Ziggy, Imelda year were my favourite as they were the same age as me although I watched it from the start until I went to Poly.

I remember being gleefully surprised to spot Mr Bronson as Admiral Ozzell in Empire Strikes Back

Just watched the first episode of the Netflix Beckham documentary. A fabulous watch.
I started watching this earlier in the week. It's great.

I've just got to the Argentina red card bit, I knew he got a lot of shit after that but I don't remember it being quite THAT bad! I also can't remember when/how he turned it around (I haven't got to that bit yet). It's great that Hoddle comes across as a MASSIVE cunt too :)

I have always loved Becks but, looking back, I don't feel I fully apreciated that Man United team at the time. I cheered them on in that epic semi-final against Arsenal and the unbelievable final against Bayern but spent most of the time getting annoyed at them winning all the time. I should have just enjoyed them for the incredible team that they were.

We said exactly the same when watching it. Can remember the stuff in the immediate aftermath with the effigies, etc but didn't remember the abuse he got at games the following season.

Also can't believe I never noticed the pock mark on his left cheek before!

I didn’t mind United’s success, growing up with Liverpool winning everything it was a welcome change and built around an exciting team of mainly young British talent.
As for the Beckham hatred I recalled it as a 52-48% split, with mainly familiar types of cnuts being on the wrong side of the argument.
