The Goggle Box Thread

Andor is fucking marvellous.
I managed 3 episodes before deciding it was boring me to tears. Nothing ever happened of any interest, and I couldn't have cared less about any of the characters. The lead guy is so bland, with zero range, he may as well not have bothered talking and still had the same effect.

Watched the first annd second episodes of this, I like it but do not have a scooby what is going on.
Neither do I. Watched the third episode today, still no idea what’s going on but I love it!

Binge watched all of SAS Rogue Heroes last night, very good, well I liked it :)

The Devil's Hour on Prime. Binged a few yesterday afternoon/evening, it's OK I suppose but pretty drawn out. I'll judge it when I've finished it.Peter Capaldi is excellent in it.

Really need to revisit Banshee, it's been a couple of years since I watched it so it's due another sitting.

Clips of Banshee keep popping up on Youtube suggestions recently, remembered I really liked it first time round

Banshee is phenomenal (if you like plenty of violence and more tits than you can shake a stick at), the only series I've ever been genuinely sad to see end. The characters are just so likeable, even Kai Proctor, it's pretty addictive. Job is easily the best character ever created.

Italia 90: When Football Changed Forever | All 4 - Channel 4

Although not in Ep.1, Bully features in subsequent episodes.

His face popped up before the end.

I enjoyed it too and was surprised by the undercover revelation before the end. Some of the footage was from the Italia 90 Documentary by Kevin Allen which was an excellent video diary of tournament.

As a fan going to the games, Italia 90 was a nightmare. Although to be fair it did stop any significant trouble.

I've not though seen why the program says 'Football Changed Forever' - we were still five years away from Dublin. Being at Lansdown Road that night and the subsequent walk back into the city stopped me going to England away games for some time. England had/have some real thugs and the firms were in evidence that night, but the Irish Police were equally as culpable, although that wasn't as well reported in England as it was in Ireland. Scary, scary few days.

It'll be interesting to see their take on why it changed. IMO the publicity of a long run in the tournament helped galvanise interest in the game. Following on from that investment came into football, Sky money, all seater stadiums, policing, CCTV, banning orders, the return of families, and even the use of ecstasy helped change the game. Thugs were and are still out there but by and large the matchday experience over time became a far more pleasant / palatable one.

You're right, money and the Sky money in particular changed the game and I guess that followed Italia 90 from a time perspective. As a 'legacy' (one for Jeff) match going England fan, there was still a long way to go after the summer of 90 before the game changed for the better. The club football experience in this country changed before the international one - I'd say Euro 96 was the international catalyst.

He's mentioned it on his socials recently.

Funnily enough, I wasn't surprised. Something about them didn't seem right. Whereas I was surprised the Alexei Sayle lookalike was one!

Guess they Del Boy'd that gold then

Great last episode. Really mind bending story and ending. Excellent.

Been watching Detectorists through again in preparation for the Christmas special. Just finished S2 and the special. Still a great watch.
