The Football News Thread 2025/26

I think the bbc tune from 1986 was better. Did it have the Italian scorer from the 82 final with veins pulsing at the end of it?

No I’m thinking of the 82 theme tune.

They portrayed that clip of Sir Bob as him hanging his head in despair after we didn't win the first two games. He said after he was just listening to Frank Sinatra on a Walkman :D

Will have mentioned this before but central sports and central tv plays a huge role in my being a Wolves fan. Living in Corby they were clearly confused about where or what we were, so you could tune in ITV Central and ITV Anglia on most TV sets and aerials in our area. So it was seeing Wolves on there that made me start supporting as coincided with having a random poster from either match or shoot, and getting the Manders kit on holiday.

Weird to think that other than Gladiators and Strictly, my own kid (9) watches zero actual broadcasted TV as just has far too much other choice.

You can see on that Goals Extra clip I posted how mental the 90s "Central" TV area was.

Wolves, Port Vale, Crewe, Oxford, Chesterfield, Northampton, Mansfield, Shrewsbury and Swindon are not all the same area! :D

Was it Jilly’s Rockworld?
Nah it was like 2023 and apparently that place closed in 2010.

Can't remember what it was called but it was the only seemingly decent place that was open after 11pm.

Had a quick look and can't find it, as it's down one of those "back of" Streets somewhere around the Northern Quarter.

I think he’s as qualified as I am ffs.

Basically Joe Shields and Kinetic Academy run that club now. It’s so bizarre

*checks Mourinho’s trophy cabinet*

I dunno man I’d be pretty stoked with Mourinho-esque tbqfh

Again Mourinho Porto side and his first Chelsea peroid were great sides, probably wins the CL in 2005 also if it weren’t for a dodgy Lino decision at anfield.
Being pragmatic in games where you know the opponent has better quality is good management.
You can be fool hardy and try play nice stuff and lose.

IIRC he had Robben and Duff terrorising defences in the early part of the season and they looked brilliant. Became more cautious as the season went on but they were still a good watch.

This is why I get annoyed with all the talksport 'always sad to see someone lose their job...' shite like it's the same as getting laid off by Tesco.
Indeed, I always think that too. As Simon Jordan always says, none of these guys are going to the poor house
