The Football News Thread 2025/26

For anyone that likes a bit of Gazza, he was on The Jim White & Simon Jordan Show this morning from about 10.30 to midday, he looked very well and was on fine form talking about his career (the good and the bad) and some of his old tales. A good listen

I think you either have to ban the country and their teams from the competition like Russia, or not. You can see the tensions they are trying to prevent but you can't ban fans like this IMV. I do wonder if it's just Villa angling for gov contribution to policing costs though.

After what happened in Amsterdam, it's no surprise the SAG don't want the fans there. Socials are full of people acting as though this is the first time away fans have been banned following rioting

Ajax are similar to Spurs in respect that they have a large Jewish following so in theory that fixture shouldn’t have caused problems. Tel Aviv fans chanting and goading the local population had much to do with what followed. It’s understandable how the decision was reached. Could the clubs have agreed for a few hundred on official tours be allowed in as a compromise? Probably not considering you can’t stop people without tickets from travelling and hence why a blanket ban was decided.

The Maccabi fans where chanting kill all Arabs, ripping down Palestinian flags off locals houses, beating locals up in Amsterdam considering there’s a lot of Muslims in Birmingham there’s a pretty good chance of trouble by the away fans, but we can’t upset Israel can we, they have to be allowed to do whatever they want wherever they want

The arseholes were still doubling down on it yesterday.
There is no surprises from the leaked intelligence of where the trouble was likely to come from.

Remember when lefties were saying that a lot of the anti semitism stuff was exaggerated and/or made up during the Corbyn era?

Perhaps they'll reflect on that now.

Isn't it something to do with there needs to be 33 gameweeks in the Prem on a weekend? Because the FA wanted the FA Cup 5th round back to a weekend, and no Prem games on the Q-F weekend, it means there's only 32 pencilled in. So the only other option was to have the BD fixtures on the weekend. Gows back to BD next year
