I hate to say it, but even given the disparity in the number of games between the NFL and the Champ, £25 for a ticket is so, so cheap compared to what we pay here.

You're not comparing like for like though. You can get tickets to watch the current World Series Champs (Royals) for under $20 and Yankees tickets for under $30. And that's top level stuff. Watching second tier stuff is pennies in the States or Canada.

The one thing you're missing is that fans are important due to locality and history, that isn't there in American sport as franchises rule.

I'd say in terms of popularity, NFL and the Prem are the only comparison you can make.

Also not sure what you mean by implying that fans here aren't important?

Really? More people watch baseball than the NFL and arguably College football is more popular than the NFL too. You are comparing a small number of games with 4 times that amount, my comparison did the same.

It says more about supply and demand. I don't expect you to understand a European football fans mentality towards the sport Alan, not being derisory, but unless you've experienced it live you can't understand it fully.

I already controlled for the number of games, the average NFL cost for 8 games is still more than double what, say, a Wolves fan would pay to go to all 23 home games this season at £25 each. I controlled for currency exchange, as well.

I think you're sorely underestimating the passion of American sport fans.

On the baseball comparison, Americans would still pay more: for a full season of attendance at home games in MLB, it would cost ~£1700 (using the cost of Rockies' tickets). Naturally it's not realistic to expect anyone to go to all 81 of their teams' home games, but that's easiest for the sake of variable control. For 23 Wolves' home matches at £25, the cost comes out to ~£575.

I'm not saying that you lot shouldn't be fighting for price controls. I fully support it, in fact. All I'm saying is that it's a wonder that your prices have lagged so far behind ours for so long.

The comparison would be an Arsenal, Spurs or Man Utd season ticket not a Wolves ticket. You have missed the population spread in your controls too. Only 32 NFL and MLB teams for a population of over 350 million compared to 92 league teams for a population sub 80 million.

Benzema is no longer under judicial supervision and may return to France National Team.

Jumping aboard a sinking ship?

Former Manchester City Chairman David Bernstein and former Villa player & manager Brian Little are to be appointed onto the board at Aston Villa.

Bernstein is a really good guy. Sorted City out when they were all manners of fucked.

I'd be delighted with either of them on our Board. I think Villa will surprise those with the apocalyptic predictions next year and storm through the league. Randy will need to invest to get them up or he'll lose millions, they'll pay as much or more than anyone else. So with the possible exception of the North East club(s) who come down they'll have the pick of the Championship level player....as long as they get a new manager who knows the league and with Little's link to Leicester I think that'll be Pearson

Hmmm, to paraphrase Mrs Merton's famous line

'so what was it Harry, that first attracted you the position at the free spending Derby County?'

Shame they've already been to Molineux this season. Hoddle probably used delaying tactics until that one was out of the way

Don't worry - suspect Derby will still be with us next year (whether he/they are still with Derby is another matter though)

Hoddle & Arry!

Not in my wildest dreams would I wish that on any club.

'Arry is a fuckin disgrace. As much as I dislike derby I wouldn't wish that piece of excrement on my worst enemy, not even notlob
