Would prefer the Captain to be in the centre of defence but options are limited there.

Stones eventually, but at least two years yet. Maybe Jones if he finally starts getting a proper run for United.

The media make far too much of the captaincy in this country, you lead by example. Neuer, Schweinsteiger, Müller don't wear the armband but they are leaders. When we did have a proper leader in Terry they couldn't wait to knock him down (notwithstanding that he brought most of it on himself). Same would happen with Rooney.

The media also couldn't wait to get rid of Becks as captain in 2006 and he was fantastic in that role.

So he can back up Nasri and Silva? Poor move for him if it goes through.

Hmm, Nasri was magnificent last season.

First game Suarez will be available for Barca is against Real Madrid. Nice low key fixture to ease himself back into the game.

Would he be fit for that one though?

van Gaal played 3-4-3 apparently in United's game the other day

I saw an article on BBC where he said if he played 4-3-3 he'd have 3 forwards on the bench and he doesn't want that. They definitely need a centre midfielder and a centre back, and a right back if Rafael doesn't sort himself out.

Carrick's out until October/November so you've got to put either Cleverley, Fletcher or Fellaini where he is in that formation. Which makes an already deeply flawed setup look even worse.

Yeah, they desperately need a centre midfielder regardless so I assume they will buy between now and the start of the season.

Holland scored one goal from open play in the knockout stages in the World Cup - and that from a half cleared corner. RvP hardly had a kick in any of the games and kept getting subbed as a result. That set up is really, really easy to defend against - especially given that most teams will come to Old Trafford with a cautious approach. 0-0 isn't a bad result in the World Cup. Try seeing how goalless draw after goalless draw pans out at Man Utd.

Rafael isn't even any good going forward, Zubar/Johnson syndrome of getting there ok and then crossing like a Mark Rankine tribute act. I really wouldn't fancy having him responsible for doing all the attacking down one side.

Jez knows dick, as proven by him increasing walk up prices this season. Our ticketing approach is woefully lacking in imagination. It really annoys me.

DW please revisit this statement. You are often criticised on here for over statement. This is UNDER statement. Our ticketing approach is bloody awful on a good day! There is so much that could be done that isnt to attract more to midweek games
