I think he must have been to the Joe Kinnear school of delusion. After trying to throw Mike Williamson under the bus anyone with half a brain isn't going to up and leave are they? Better to let the self-appointed 'best coach in the league' deal with the fallout if you don't perform on the day.

Jamie Vardy is an England international.

Good grief.

Goalkeepers: Rob Green (Queens Park Rangers), Joe Hart (Manchester City), Tom Heaton (Burnley),
Defenders: Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton), Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Chris Smalling (Manchester United).
Midfielders: Ross Barkley (Everton), Fabian Delph (Aston Villa), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), Ryan Mason (Tottenham), James Milner (Manchester City), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Andros Townsend (Tottenham Hotspur), Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal).
Forwards: Charlie Austin (Queens Park Rangers), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Jamie Vardy (Leicester) Danny Welbeck (Arsenal).

What is Hodgson playing at picking Vardy and Townsend. Disgraceful stuff.

Townsend has done well for England. He will keep getting picked if that remains the same.

Jamie Vardy goes into the list with the likes of Michael Ricketts as one cap wonders...

I thought Vardy deserved a call up.

There aren't many alternatives tbf.

Here are the top scoring English forwards in the PL this season:

Harry Kane 20
Charlie Austin 17
Saido Berahino 14
Wayne Rooney 12
Danny Ings 10
Raheem Sterling 7
Glenn Murray 7
Peter Crouch 7
Gabby Agbonlahor 6
Dave Nugent 5
Andy Carroll 5
Ashley Barnes 5
Connor Wickham 5
Jamie Vardy 4
Danny Welbeck 4

Austin, Rooney, Sterling and Welbeck are in. Kane, Berahino and Ings are all in the U21 squad so can't be picked, that applies to Bamford and Afobe too. Murray isn't anything like international quality and is 31, Crouch is 34 so his time has been and gone, Nugent has never been England quality, Gabby is never going to be good enough for England and perpetually has a really poor return these days, Carroll is injured, Barnes is awful and I wouldn't want him at Wolves even as a sub, Wickham is not much better.

Vardy probably won't play and even if he does there are far worse players with England caps, just from the last decade all of the following have played at least one game:

Scott Carson
Zat Knight
Anthony Gardner
Kieran Richardson
Jake Livermore
Jay Bothroyd
Carlton Cole
Kevin Davies

Think he gives a bit of central pace that the others don't offer, either.

Zat Knight :icon_lol: There's a blast from the past.

Interestingly, David de Gea is not even in the top five GKs in the Prem this season (based on save %).

ESPN is ranking the top 50 players in the Premier League this past season, which should be good for some laughs. I'll keep you all updated on the shenanigans. So far they have...

50. Emre Can
49. Saido Berahino
48. Gary Cahill
47. Romelu Lukaku
46. Danny Welbeck

Danny Welbeck and his four league goals, that seems a solid pick.

So West Ham confirmed in the Europa League. They have to start in Q1 which starts at the beginning of July. To get to the group stages, they have get through 4 rounds.

Hoping they get drawn v Bala Town in their first game

What an absolute nonsense. Competition needs scrapping.

This is the last year of the Fair Play nonsense.

If UEFA weren't so pissy about other football being played on Tues/Weds nights when the CL is on then it wouldn't be so much of an issue. Also they should stop failed CL teams dropping in, devalues the tournament and adds another round which isn't necessary. As for starting early...use them as your pre-season friendlies, problem solved. You won't play anyone who's any good until the third qualifier at the earliest.

I'd bloody love Wolves to play in Europe. If Blues, Wigan, Southampton, Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Fulham and Bolton can do it then so can we. We might need to actually win a cup tie at some point though.

Don't get the hatred for the Europa league. You play basically the same amount of games as the CL and the rest time is the same. Yes you have to travel far, as there is more Eastern European teams in it, but you can play half the games with a second string!

For teams like Liverpool and Spurs its a real opportunity to win it. Don't understand the 'I'd rather not be in the Europa League if we fail to make CL'

I'd hate playing Thursday-Sunday all the time tbf. But as I say they could easily fix that.
