Watership Down was a U, don't rely on the age ratings...

It was (much) later revised to PG. The BBFC originally felt that as it was an animation it somehow 'removes the realistic gory horror in the occasional scenes of violence and bloodshed'.

Really simple movie withloads of twists, never leaves the one location but the storytelling and acting carry it. Mark Rylance was excellent

Watched a couple on Sky Cinema recently and suggest you don't even look at it for more then 2 seconds. Hypnotic and 57 Seconds. 0/10 at best.

We cancelled Sky cinema as the selection was consistently awful.
I couldn't care less about Marvel Universe or Tom Cruise's catalog of movies.

Howl's Moving Castle - quite enjoyed it. Bit hit and miss with animated stuff, tend to not enjoy the ones that are just a bit samey. Something a bit different

Poor Things - odd... not sure what to make of it. Visually pretty cool though. Dafoe and Gruffalo accents are a bit Hardy in Peaky Blinders all over the shop, Ruffalo character made me laugh though

Watched the new remake of Road House tonight with Jake Gyllenhaal.

It was fairly standard modern faire of "hard man who is fighting a criminal organisation run by a smarmy young rich guy all on his own, and has to save people he cares about along the way."

The real surprise of the movie was Conor McGregor who was genuinely rather good as a grinning loudmouthed psycho with a screw loose. It offset Gyllenhaal's quiet introspective psycho with a screw loose perfectly

But boy was Gyllenhaal ripped in this. And I mean RIPPED. He's huge. Must have trained his ass off knowing he'd be fighting with McGregor. You could tell he'd been cutting for the shoots though. That telltale stretched looking skin over popping veins and abnormal looking muscles. Certainly compared to McGregor's more natural and smooth looking physique through years of training and fighting.

Was alright for what it was though. 6/10.

If I’d thought the exact same thing two weeks ago I’d be twice the man I am today.

Sisu. An aged, grizzled Finnish army vet turns his back on the WWII and goes panning for gold. And finds a shitload. While returning to his hometown (I presume) a company of war beaten German soldiers decide to try and take his gold off him, unfortunately for them he’s a rock hard bastard super soldier responsible for killing hundreds of Russians on his own.

Completely OTT and really good fun, nothing new but some of the kills were inventive and a couple really funny. Well worth a watch.

Late Night with the Devil. Quirky take on demonic possession set in a 70s TV chat show. Bit of a fucked up ending but it was really well done and David Dastmalchian is superb in it.

I Am Not a Serial Killer, really trippy independent thriller/horror. Max Records is really good in it and Christopher Lloyd is excellent as usual. Like it so much I’ve bought the novel.
