Track position can slow the other down, I think Ferrari overly committed to the 1 stop and showed they still aren't great with strategy. Yes they may have, probably, still finished where they did but with the gap over 5th, Lewis was spot on at least one of them should have tried it.They lost 8 seconds not using VSC and the gap was 19 seconds on a faster strategy. They wouldn’t have been remotely close - IMO of course. Track position would have been doing a lot of heavy lifting.
The race settled after a while, it does look like some of the changes allowing cars to follow each other will be very positive. I don't mind the electrical power use, but it shouldn't be applied in such a way that a driver doesn’t drive on the limit. Without having got into the detail it sounds like drivers have some ideas I hope the FIA take seriously.
