Weren't they concerned about the tyres, but then a couple of drivers seemed lose control for no reason. Should make qualifying interesting, though Hamilton and Rosberg seem to be a bit quicker than the others.

They do indeed. I expect they may be on a three stop strategy. Red Bull almost certainly on two.

I did notice yesterday that Mercedes used a set of soft tyres in Q1, perhaps keeping the hard tyres back for a one stop race?

I reckon so. Problem is making the merc look after its tyres. Still not convinced they have sorted that completely.
